Terrific short ball first up that Paine plays and misses.
Liam Plunkett to bowl the final over...
Cummins backs away and chips Wood into off for a quick two. Again Cummins backs a long way outside leg, Wood follows him but the number eight can slice away to point for one.
Wood then gets one through Paine and into a sensitive area, but Cummins calls the keeper through for one.
Catch it! No. Paine pulls away and Rashid misjudges the flight, stepping backwards at first when he should've been sprinting in. The leg-spinner is caught on the back foot and has to just smother the ball to keep it for one.
That was a chance. Good fielding from Hales next up though, preventing the boundary after Cummins swiped away to deep square leg.
Here is Mark Wood to bowl his final over...
Cummins gets an inside edge to his first ball as it runs away to allow the number eight to get off the mark.
A single to Paine returns Cummins to the strike. Woakes angles a short ball back in and Cummins plays and misses.
A mistimed drive for one follows, before Paine strays outside off and tries to pull off the ramp shot but Woakes sees him and fires it wider for a dot ball.
Only three runs off the 48th over.
Here comes Pat Cummins - can England make use of that wicket by restricting runs in the final three overs?

That was a very good innings but well bowled from Chris Woakes.
He bowled into the pitch and that was what has worked well for the England bowlers.
Stoinis c Root by Woakes 60 (Aus 285-6)
An excellent take from Joe Root marks the end of a terrific innings from Marcus Stoinis.
The Aussie tries to flat bat a Chris Woakes short ball over the top but it sticks in the pitch a tad, Stoinis miscuing the shot and picking out Root.
The England Test captain still has a lot to do, diving forward to scoop his hands under it before giving Stoinis a thumbs up to confirm he caught it cleanly.

Now Stoinis is really starting to open up.
Stoinis is in full attack mode now, clattering a length ball from Plunkett back over his head for six.
Aus 277-5
Stoinis goes for the big drive, miscues it but it drops safe in the gap between the in-field and the man on the fence.
A single to each batsmen and here is Stoinis on 49...
And that's 50 - a low full toss from Plunkett and Stoinis works it powerfully off his pads round the corner for four.
That's a vital 50 off just 37 balls.

These two have timed it really well. They have been busy and put away the bad balls. They have not taken any huge risks and that is the sign of some smart cricketers.
I am sure in the next four overs there will be those extra risks now that they have taken it so deep.
Tremendous drive down the ground from Stoinis, beating wide mid-off and racing away to the fence.
Cut shot next up but Hales runs round to keep it to two. A big drive goes to Morgan but the England skipper is on the edge of the ring and Stoinis can scamper a single.
Australia on course for 300 at this rate. The hosts might feel they need a bit more than that though. It rained yesterday but this looks a fine pitch to bat on.
Eoin Morgan is keeping back Mark Wood's final over for now. Chris Woakes returns. Vital last five overs here...

Mikey Perera: England's line-up looks exciting. I know it's different formats and all that jazz but surely the big game experience and batting quality of Hales/Morgan/Roy/Buttler would have helped the Ashes team in some way. Or is that naive?
Tim Paine pulls away for a couple before picking Plunkett's slower and hitting a check pull through mid-wicket that is timed well to run away for four.
Make that back-to-back fours, Paine just about controls another pull round the corner to the fence.
Pressure on Plunkett but he responds with a dot ball. A slower ball bouncer sees Paine only pick up one, before Stoinis clips one into leg. Big over for the hosts.

You could see what Mark Wood was trying to do with the short ball but he got the line wrong and Stoinis was able to free his hands.
Cracking strike from Stoinis, cutting Wood away and only just missing out on a flat six as the ball bounces before the rope.
Stoinis pulls into leg and looks for two, but Bairstow scampers in to keep it to one. Good fielding from the Test keeper.
Wood then goes off his short run, all of 10 paces - what a delightful cricketer to watch.
Paine slices it away for one before Stoinis jams down on a yorker and is able to scurry two.
A lovely slower ball from Plunkett tricks Stoinis, but the Aussie responds brilliantly, thrashing a length ball for a one-bounce four through mid-wicket.
