New Zealand batsman Mark Chapman, who made eight, on Sky Sports: "The pitch is a little bit more up and down than the last game, but it's still coming on.

"If we can get to 160 or 170, we'll see how we go. It's going to be tough to defend but we've done it before. We'll go out there and enjoy it."

  2. NZ 127-8published at 17 overs

Only the second four in seven overs as Taylor cuts big Billy fractionally wide of the outstretched left hand of substitute fielder Travis Head at backward point.

A reminder Head is on for Chris Lynn, who suffered a nasty fall on his arm and had to be helped from the field. Sodhi has kept the bowling again though, with a single from the final ball, although New Zealand will take anything at this stage.

I think Taylor will see out two or even three more overs then try to really go big.

New Zealand have to bat their overs but they've also got to set something competitive. What does Ross Taylor do here?

  5. NZ 120-8published at 16 overs

It's not a big crowd at the famous Eden Park, they are mainly congregated on the lower tiers around the ground and the majority supporting New Zealand have not had much to cheer. Only singles from the Stoinis over and tailender Sodhi keeps the strike. Real problems for the Kiwis, with onyl two wickets remaining.

  6. NZ 116-8published at 15 overs

They've got to get to 140 first Jimmy, it seems a long way off at the moment. Tye mixing up his pace well, up at 85mph and then 20mph slower. Taylor collects a single from the final ball so he will have the strike.

    Taylor 21, Sodhi 0

Nelson the score now for New Zealand, that's all they need. Can Taylor take enough strike and wield some last-gasp boundaries to give them something to bowl at?

Southee tried to go aerial over that comparatively long area of the field but couldn't clear Maxwell.

Brainless batting from Southee. He needed to stick around with Taylor.

    Southee c Maxwell b Richardson 5 (NZ 110-8)

Southee holes out to deep mid-wicket. There are plenty of orange-vested figures in the crowd, all waiting for the chance to claim the 50,000 for a one-handed catch. It's rather optimistic to expect any further chances in the New Zealand innings...

Australia coach Darren Lehmann on Sky Sports: "You've got to get wickets early and we've managed to do that. It's an interesting state of the game - we've got to keep getting wickets."

  13. NZ 103-7published at 13 overs

Tim Southee is the new man. He has a T20 highest of 23 and he is going to need a few today. He's off the mark with a single first ball. Seven overs left - can the Kiwis find some late momentum?

That's a superb delivery. Stoinis bowled it seam up and it looked like it was going to shape away but ended up angling back into the stumps.

Another one on his way, Seifert this time, playing inside a Stoinis yorker which crashes into the base of the off stump.

Well bowled Ashton Agar - he has mixed his pace exceptionally well.

  17. NZ 100-0published at 12 overs

Warner is marshalling his troops superbly here this evening, he's off for the tour of South Africa at 6am tomorrow apparently so any celebrations tonight may have to be curtailed a fraction. Agar completes an outstanding allocation of 3-27 from four overs. After his first ball went for six, he conceded only one more boundary.

An excellent comeback from Andrew Tye after his first over went for 15.

  19. NZ 94-6published at 11 overs

    Taylor 11, Seifert 1

The sun setting in Auckland and it could be on New Zealand's chances of victory as well. New man Tim Seifert can only scramble a single from the remaining four deliveries of Tye's over.
