    New Zealand have been in exceptional form, and so have England, so it makes for a juicy match-up in the one-day series. I love watching England play - and I hope they play the same brand of cricket.

  3. Such is the busy nature of international cricket, our focus must quickly turn to England's five-match ODI series against New Zealand.

    The first match is at Hamilton on Sunday, starting at 01:00 GMT.

    England will be looking to move on from a poor T20 series and find the form that saw them beat world champions Australia in the ODI series before.

    Australia captain David Warner: "We played superb cricket throughout the series. I asked the guys to be clinical and execute all their skills and I can't complain. They've been absolutely amazing.

    "In the last 18-24 months they've talked about us not taking this format too seriously by resting our guys, but they've come out of Big Bash in superb form here and I couldn't be prouder of them.

    "It proves the great depth we have in Australia cricket. The clarity and role these guys play in BIg Bash, there's no reason they can't do it in international cricket."

    New Zealand captain Kane Williamson: "Australia have been outstanding throughout this campaign - they deserved to win. We weren't able to get that momentum in this series.

    "The pitch was quite different from the game before. Perhaps we thought we needed a few more. If we had another 20 out there, it would have been competitive."

    On the ODI series against England which starts on Sunday: "It will be a tough series. England have just been over the ditch and played some really good cricket, so we know we'll have to be at our best in Hamilton."

    A fearsome top five, smart seam bowlers and an excellent spin option in Ashton Agar - Australia could well be favourites for the T20 World Cup on home soil in 2020 if they keep this side together.

    "You need a sighter out there - it was my first time here the other night and I couldn't believe how small the ground was.

    "This has been the most enjoyable tour for me. We all get along and we gel really well."

    This team have the perfect T20 combination - it's a mark of how good the Big Bash is. They've got everything you want from a bowling perspective and they've got a stack of powerhouses with the bat.

  14. So a pretty damp end to an underwhelming series.

    No arguments at all with the champions though - Australia have been immense throughout the Twenty20 tri-series, not least in that sublime record run chase against New Zealand last time out.

    Unfortunately the final could not emulate that at all, but Australia bowled cannily to restrict New Zealand to just 150 and D'Arcy Short's quickfire 50 ensured they got on top in the chase.

  15. Just crunching the numbers - Australia have beaten New Zealand by 19 runs on the DLS method.

    Despite batting second, when the rain forces the match to be abandoned it goes down to Australia's runs scored and they were 19 ahead of the required total after 14.4 overs.
