  1. NZ 198-3published at 38 overs

    Target 285

Tom Latham seems to be suffering with a bit of cramp as he turns down a quick single off Ben Stokes' first delivery. Ross Taylor responds by pulling Stokes for consecutive fours behind square.

New Zealand then pick up a single off Stokes' final delivery and the England all-rounder vents his frustration at the lack of intensity in the field. He's chuntering to himself after grabbing his hat back of the umpire.

It's not going to plan for England here.

  2. NZ 187-3published at 37 overs

    Target 285

Adil Rashid with a solid spell here. No wickets but he's gone at 4.50 from eight overs

A big appeal from Rashid and Jos Buttler off the Yorkshire leg-spinner's final delivery after Tom Latham misses an attempted cut but the umpire is not interested.

    Here comes Ben Stokes...

Now is the time to bring Ben Stokes on. He's the man who more often than not does something spectacular.

  4. What have you missed?published at 07:46 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2018

Just joining us? Having a leisurely Sunday? Here's what you've missed...

England made 284-8 in this first ODI, thanks largely to Joe Root's serene 71 and a measured 79 from Jos Buttler, Jason Roy having hit 49 at the top of the order.

On a slow pitch, New Zealand slipped to 27-3 in reply, which included Martin Guptill and Kane Williamson cheaply, but Tom Latham and Ross Taylor have led a sterling recovery with a partnership that has just passed 150.

  5. NZ 184-3published at 36 overs

    Target 285

England lacking a bit of zip and energy in the field. Heads are starting to drop a little. A good over from Chris Woakes and his fifth ball just misses Tom Latham's off stump. Woakes can scarcely believe if when his next delivery is edged down to the boundary for four.

  6. 'New Zealand should cruise home'published at 07:42 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2018

England are up against it and New Zealand are firmly in control. They should cruise home from here.

  7. NZ 179-3published at 35 overs

    Target 285

Adil Rashid bowls his seventh over and is given plenty of encouragement from Jos Buttler behind the stumps. The Lancashire wicketkeper screams "catch it" as Tom Latham's leading edge down the ground loops over Rashid's head. The leg-spinner stands frustrated with his hands on his hips.

Ben Stokes has bowled four overs so far in his comeback match. Is it time for Eoin Morgan to turn to his star all-rounder?

New Zealand coach Mike Hesson on Sky Sports: "They've played really nicely - not only to consolidate but push the run-rate on. We've got quality players. Your top order can't always do the job.

"Tom Latham has played nicely - let's hope he continues for the next 10 or 12 overs."

New Zealand are coasting along now. England have got to try and create something - they have got to create their own powerplay and make New Zealand take chances. Or you sit in for as long as you can and wait for New Zealand to make the mistake.

  11. drinks break

    NZ 172-3published at 34 overs

    Latham 66, Taylor 75

A top-class shot from Ross Taylor as he perfectly picks the gap behind point off Chris Woakes' second delivery and the balls whistles away to the boundary for four. New Zealand scamper four more runs off the over in singles. Very comfortable at the moment. It's time for a drink.

Latham has picked up length beautifully, he has been powerful at times and, most importantly, he has been intelligent.

  13. NZ 164-3published at 33 overs

    Target 285

The boundaries are starting to come for New Zealand now. Ross Taylor twice cuts Adil Rashid - his first one was sweetly timed and crosses the rope but second time round he does not quite generate the same power and Jonny Bairstow scampers around to cut it off

  15. NZ 154-3published at 32 overs

    Target 285

An eventful over from Chris Woakes, but not in England's favour. Ross Taylor and Tom Latham both take advantage of short deliveries and dispatch the Warwickshire all-rounder to the boundary for four.

The technology clear shows Woakes' delivery was missing the stumps so the original on-field decision remains.

It's almost the situation of the game that's brought about this review. It's wishful thinking - it's hit him pretty high.

  19. England reviewpublished at 07:22 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2018

    Taylor on 56

Chris Woakes strikes Ross Taylor on the pad, it's given not out but England review it. Taylor has not hit it but the ball is clearly missing the wickets.
