  1. NZ 121-6published at 32 overs

Ooof! Moeen finds a bit of drift and bite to catch De Grandhomme's outside edge as the ball flies through vacant slip and to the fence.

Lucky, vital runs for the hosts.

This is as well as I have ever seen England field in a one-day international.

  3. NZ 115-6published at 31 overs

Mitchell Santner has proven a worthy adversary for England with the bat in this series already, having made 45 not out in victory in the first ODI.

It's De Grandhomme to face for now, hitting the first ball of the returning Rashid's for four. A bit of a drag down from the leg-spinner.

Better bowling follows - just three singles from the rest of the over.

That was a big wicket for England. It was a huge partnership because these two are dangerous players in their own right. Moeen Ali has kept it really tight and that is why Latham was trying to force it.

    Latham c Curran b Moeen 22 (NZ 108-6)

New Zealand were wobbling and they are full-on collapsing now.

Moeen keeps it tight, drawing Latham into an attacking stroke. The ball is a touch short with a touch of width and Latham cuts but is fooled by the extra bounce and loops a catch to Curran at point.

Latham cannot believe he's picked the man out. A vital wicket for England to stem the fifth-wicket pair before they got going.

Excellent stuff, Chris. I'm going to see them in a couple of weeks in Manchester. Enjoy! New Zealand's batsmen have been working on their backwards walk to the pavilion so far today.

  7. NZ 105-5published at 29 overs

De Grandomme can only flick one off his pads after that big hit but that was a useful over for New Zealand - 11 from it.

  8. 6 runs

    NZ 104-5published at 28.4 overs

Back of a length and De Grandhomme clatters it away towards square leg - is that going down Bairstow's throat?

No, the ball ends up sailing over the boundary. The wind is tricky to judge here. Superb shot in the end. That's the 100 up for New Zealand.

  9. NZ 94-5published at 28 overs

    Latham 20, De Grandhomme 7

Another tight over from Moeen Ali, conceding just four runs as England continue to squeeze.

  10. NZ 90-5published at 27 overs

Superb stuff from Stokes until the last ball of the over when he strays too short and the burly De Grandhomme bashes him through square leg to the fence.

Much, much more of that needed for the hosts.

    Cheers Matt, sterling stuff.

What can Latham and De Grandhomme muster from here?

They'll have Stokes to contend with next up...

  12. NZ 85-5published at 26 overs

It swung around a bit early on but this certainly hasn't been England being helped by conditions heavily in the bowlers' favour. They have bowled tight accurate lines and fielded superbly. One run out, three excellent catches and some top ground fielding too.

England are well on their way in this one. Here's Jack Skelton to talk you through the rest of this innings. Speak later.

  13. NZ 82-5published at 25 overs

The brilliantly named Colin de Grandhomme joins Latham in the middle. A massive dig in is needed. New Zealand are five down at the halfway stage with hardly anything on the board.

Oh! Jason Roy has pulled off two of the greatest catches I've seen in ODI cricket in the space of two overs! England are on fire in the field.

    Nicholls c Roy b Stokes (NZ 82-5)

Oh. My. Word. Take a bow Jason Roy. This one is even better!

An over after taking a stunner in the deep, Jason Roy has just taken another sensational diving catch, this time at backward point. Think Paul Collingwood in his pomp.

Short and wide from Stokes to the left-hander Henry Nicholls and the batsman cuts hard in the air. He must think he's done enough for a boundary but Roy flies away to his right to claim a stunning grab.

  16. NZ 79-4published at 24 overs

    Latham 13, Nicholls 1

Henry Nicholls joins Tom Latham out in the middle. New Zealand are in trouble here now. Their key man is out and you could see how annoyed Guptill was to fall there. He swept hard but didn't really seem to look to clear the rope. Instead the ball just flew a few metres above the ground to the diving Roy.

What a catch! Jason Roy has run in and taken a superb diving catch just a few inches above the turf.

    Guptill c Roy b Moeen 50 (NZ 79-4)

England's fielding has been so good here. This time it's Jason Roy with the terrific work as he runs round from mid-wicket to meet a smashed sweep shot from Martin Guptill and dives low to his right to take the ball a foot above the grass.

Moeen has a well deserved first wicket but has J-Roy to thank.

  19. 50 runs

50 for Guptillpublished at 23.1 overs

Minimal celebration and not even a hint of a smile but Martin Guptill lifts his bat to appreciate the applause which follows a single that takes him to 50.

He's going to have to go on. But...

  20. NZ 77-3published at 23 overs

Ben Stokes has clearly been brought on for some classic 'rough 'em up' stuff. His first two balls a banged in halfway down before a full delivery to Latham.

Now back to the short stuff. This one is good. Well directed. Latham pulls unconvincingly and Stokes thinks he's in with a chance of having the left-hander caught but the top edge falls short of Moeen Ali at fine leg.

    Good start from Stokes.
