  1. NZ 47-2published at 14 overs

    Guptill 33, Taylor 10

Tom Curran's floppy top flaps around in the wind as he rushes in. The sun is out now and the Surrey man isn't being helped with the swing that Woakes and Willey had earlier.

Woakes backs him up with some good fielding though to keep the batsman down to just a single. I think Trevor Bayliss has had a word about the fielding.

  2. NZ 42-2published at 13 overs

    Run rate: 3.23

More fine stuff from Adil Rashid. Just one from the over which makes it only three from his first 12 deliveries.

He bowls a wrong-un that skips on and deceives Guptill. It comes worryingly close to both edge and stumps for the New Zealander but he survives.

It was a wind-assisted throw in from Moeen Ali and Ross Taylor was also having to run back into the breeze. The wind is something you need to remember here.

  4. NZ 41-2published at 12 overs

    Guptill 30, Taylor 7

Ross Taylor is struggling to get going. His strike rate is way below 50 and as Tom Curran starts well he decides he has to show a bit more aggression. Taylor comes down the pitch but only gets an inside edge which squirts for two.

Taylor rushes back for a second run as Moeen Ali collects the ball in the deep. A better throw and that would have been close. As it is, it's a little too high and Taylor makes his ground.

It's a double change for England. Tom Curran the latest bowler to be thrown the ball.

  6. NZ 36-2published at 11 overs

Quiet start for leg spinner Rashid. Just the two runs. Not too much spin but the breeze helps his drift.

  7. NZ 34-2published at 10 overs

10 overs gone and despite the last couple of overs, England will of course be the happier. The TV pictures are showing some aerial shots of this ground. It looks lovely. Open grassy areas on one side with some sort of factory on the other. The strong breeze is still coming off the sea which is just half a mile or so away.

First change for England. Here comes Adil Rashid.

Ah, Jeremy. I've missed you. Up there with my favourite commentators in sport.

England have made a very good start but Martin Guptill is starting to look dangerous. There's nothing wrong with the delivery from Chris Woakes but Guptill shows the full face of the bat and punches off the front foot for four through extra cover. Delightful.

David Willey has bowled a little straighter, particularly to Ross Taylor, who does have a tendency to fall over playing it into the leg side so that's not a bad option to him.

  10. NZ 30-2published at 9 overs

Shot! Willey ties Guptill down with four dot balls to start the over and on the fifth the opener hits a lofted drive straight back past Willey. It's in the air for a while but no chance for the bowler or mid on.

Just slightly too full from the England bowler.

  11. NZ 25-2published at 8 overs

    Guptill 17, Taylor 4

A bit of jazz music now to get these locals going. I'm very, very, jealous of all those out on the banks as the sun peaks out for the first time.

England look like they've been given a kick up the backside ahead of this match. An accurate start with the ball and they're throwing themselves around in the field. Moeen Ali is the latest to show good athleticism. He throws himself full-length to stop the ball a yard in front of the third man boundary.

Chris Woakes appreciates it. The bowler stands and applauds from halfway down the pitch.

  12. NZ 22-2published at 7 overs

    Guptill 16, Taylor 2

David Willey concedes another wide but I think that is a result of him trying to keep his line as straight as possible, not giving Ross Taylor any width to hit through the off side. Willey has just the one slip, compared to the three Woakes had earlier. Good bowling from him. The wide is the only run scored. Taylor is struggling to get going.

Two great shots from Guptill - terrific balance and poise at the crease.

  14. NZ 21-2published at 6 overs

    Guptill 16, Taylor 2

    More runs!

This is more of a one-day shot. Woakes gets his line wrong for the first time and Guptill clips the ball in the air off his toes to the mid-wicket boundary.

The pressure is lifted on New Zealand.

  15. NZ 17-2published at 5.5 overs

This is Test match stuff in Tauranga. The crowd are lazily stretched out on the grassy banks and Chris Woakes is bowling consistently outside off stump. Guptill leaves two deliveries, something you don't see too much in limited overs cricket, and then Woakes goes in search of even more swing by pitching it up further.

Guptill likes it. He strides forward and drives beautifully through the covers. Geoffrey would be impressed. The England stranglehold is broken a little.

  16. NZ 12-2published at 5 overs

    Guptill 8, Taylor 1

With Williamson out, Martin Guptill and Ross Taylor look to be the most dangerous names on this New Zealand teamsheet. Can England nick one or both of them out while this ball is swinging?

Taylor, a centurion in the last game, gets under way with a single but that's all the Kiwis can manage from an excellent David Willey over. He's backed up by some excellent fielding from Eoin Morgan in the covers too. Five overs gone and just 12 on the total.

  17. NZ 11-2published at 4 overs

    Guptill 8, Taylor 0

I don't think I've ever seen this in one-day cricket before. Martin Guptill is now on strike and Eoin Morgan adds two more slips, taking the total in that region to three.

It looks like a typical April English day and Morgan has a field to suit.

A couple and then two more dots from Woakes. An excellent start from him.

An excellent catch by David Willey, running back and grabbing it from over his shoulder. Not an easy one to judge in this breeze.

    Chapman c Willey b Woakes 1 (NZ 9-2)

That is a very, very, good catch from David Willey.

Perhaps feeling the pressure after this tight start from England, Mark Chapman tries to force a short delivery through the leg side. The left-hander only manages a top edge which goes high into the leg side but over the head of Willey at square leg. Willey jogs back and, with the ball swirling in the strong breeze, clings on.

  20. NZ 9-1published at 3 overs

Chapman gets his first ODI run for New Zealand with a clip off his hips from David Willey's latest delivery.

The Englishman struggles with his line a little as the ball continues to swing and he drifts onto Guptill's pads again, only for Guptill to pick out Tom Curran in the leg-side, and then bowls a wide.

Again it's a better end to the over however. Two dots to finish.
