  1. wicket

WICKET Hildreth (c Clarke b Mennie) 5published at 15:34 British Summer Time 4 May 2018

    Somerset 215-3 (57 overs) v Lancashire

Somerset lose another wicket just before tea at Old Trafford as Australian paceman Joe Mennie removes James Hildreth, caught at mid-off from a leading edge. George Bartlett remains unbeaten on 69, with Tom Abell the new man at the crease.

  2. Robinson rocks Middlesexpublished at 15:34 British Summer Time 4 May 2018

    Middlesex 185-8 (58 overs) v Sussex

This is quite some bowling performance by Sussex's Ollie Robinson, who has trapped Ollie Rayner leg before and now has six wickets to his credit. Max Holden is still there on 62 not out, and he now has Tim Murtagh for company, with another 15 needed for a batting bonus point.

    Nottinghamshire 245-6 (52 overs) v Hampshire

Stuart Broad is enjoying himself out in the middle, having just hit Chris Wood for three fours in his most recent over.

The England bowler certainly seems to channeling his inner David Gower (according to Nottinghamshire!)

    Yorkshire 50 v Essex 81-6 (28 overs)

    James FosterImage source, Rex Features

Just how big is Essex's first-innings lead going to be at Chelmsford. They're 31 ahead now but another wicket has gone with Tim Bresnan cleaning up James Foster via the inside edge. Home skipper Ryan ten Doeschate has 11 not out - only the third batsman to reach double figures today - and is now being partnered by Simon Harmer.

  7. Glamorgan collapse against Kentpublished at 15:11 British Summer Time 4 May 2018

    Glamorgan 94 v Kent 1-0 (1 over)

    Nick Webb
    BBC Wales Sport

Unbelievable scenes in Cardiff where Kent have claimed all 10 Glamorgan wickets in just 15.4 overs after lunch.

Seamer Darren Stevens, 42, proved unplayable in the afternoon session taking 6-26, while Matt Henry mopped up the other four.

Jack Murphy batted through for a battling 39 not out, Nick Selman made 33 and the next best score was five. Cloudy skies and a bit of movement, but no-one expected such a turn-around!

  8. Burns and Foakes plod alongpublished at 15:06 British Summer Time 4 May 2018

    Surrey 140-3 (51 overs) v Worcestershire

Debutant Ben Twohig has been brought back on after conceding just six runs from a tidy two overs before lunch.

Surrey, and in particular Rory Burns, seem content with taking singles where possible and hitting the odd boundary every now and again while giving no quarter to the Worcestershre bowlers.

It is a real cat and mouse game at the Oval currently.

FOR MARCUS TRESCOTHICKpublished at 15:04 British Summer Time 4 May 2018

    Somerset 200-2 (48.4 overs) v Lancashire

    Marcus TrescothickImage source, Getty

Marcus Trescothick reaches a magnificent 137-ball hundred with a single off spinner Matt Parkinson - despite having to use a runner because of an ankle injury. But it is his final scoring stroke as he falls to Liam Livingstone at the start of the next over.

The Somerset stalwart batted for 201 minutes in total, faces 138 balls and hit 15 fours - and his partnership with George Bartlett, who has now been joined by James Hildreth, added 134.

BBC Radio Lancashire's Scott Read: "By the end Marcus Trescothick was having to use his bat as a crutch.

"He hobbled off the ground to a standing ovation from the Lancashire supporters and players.

"The definition of batting on one leg, he asked for a runner to come out after falling awkwardly on 95 and help him reach three figures.

"After getting his ton he carried on batting, visibly in pain and hardly able to stand up, when we all expected him to retire hurt."

  10. wicket

WICKET Lawrence (lbw Bresnan) 48published at 15:02 British Summer Time 4 May 2018

    Yorkshire 50 v Essex 72-5 (25.1 overs)

Just when it looked like Dan Lawrence would better Yorkshire's first-innings total all on his own, he is pinned in front by Tim Bresnan as he plays across the line. An excellent knock, though, featuring seven boundaries, and ESsex are 22 in front. Ryan ten Doeschate and James Foster are now together at the crease.

  11. wicket

WICKET Wright (b Critchley) 72published at 15:00 British Summer Time 4 May 2018

    Derbyshire 318 v Warwickshire 191-4 (57 overs)

After 213 minutes at the crease, warwickshire nightwatchman Chris Wright finally departs, bowled by what looked like a googly from leg-spinner Matt Critchley. Having announced his intention to retire at the end of the summer, former England batsman Jonathan Trott is now at the crease along with Sam Hain.

  12. wicket

WICKET Moores (c Weatherley b Wood) 29published at 14:59 British Summer Time 4 May 2018

    Nottinghamshire 211-6 v Hampshire

Chris Wood picks up his first wicket of the innings as Tom Moores edges the Hampshire bowler to Joe Weatherley at gully.

The visitors keep chipping away at the hosts' line-up, with many of the batsmen - bat Samit Patel - struggling to get going on this pitch.

WICKET Bopara (c Pujara b Patterson) 9published at 14:46 British Summer Time 4 May 2018

    Yorkshire 50 v Essex 58-4 (21 overs)

We hadn't seen a wicket for 14 overs at Chelmsford. Quite astonishing in the context of what has gone on earlier today. But Ravi Bopara is now on his way after edging medium-pacer Steve Patterson to first slip, having batted for almost an hour to make nine.

Dan Lawrence is 40 not out - an insanely high score in this particular match - and Essex have the lead.

FOR GEORGE BARTLETTpublished at 14:31 British Summer Time 4 May 2018

    Somerset 173-1 (43 overs) v Lancashire

George Bartlett reaches a maiden first-class fifty off 97 balls at Old Trafford with a boundary off Jimmy Anderson, and there are two more back-to-back for partner Marcus Trescothick later in the over.

Lancashire have now turned to the leg-spin of Matt Parkinson to try and break this partnership, which is now worth 108. Trescothick is 82 not out, with Bartlett on 54.

  18. Division Two round-uppublished at 14:30 British Summer Time 4 May 2018

Nightwatchman Chris Wright is still there on 58 for Warwickshire on day two against Derbyshire at Edgbaston, but Ian Bell has just fallen lbw to Hardus Viljoen for 44, ending a third-wicket stand of 77.

The umpires have agreed to Durham's request to change the ball at the Riverside, but Leicestershire are 128-0 in the 42nd over, with Paul Horton and Michael Carberry into the 60s.

Glamorgan have lost a fifth wicket against Kent, with Chris Cooke lbw for two to Derren Stevens, who now has 4-19.

Meanwhile, Middlesex have moved on to 119-5 against Sussex at Hove with Max Holden (23no) and John Simpson (17no) together in the middle.

WICKET Patel (c Wheal b Edwards) 73published at 14:21 British Summer Time 4 May 2018

    Nottinghamshire 176-5 (37.1 overs) v Hampshire

Samit Patel attempts to pull Fidel Edwards way over the boundary hopes but only succeeds in picking out Brad Wheal in the deep.

It brings to an end a brilliantly attacking innings from Patel, who hit 12 fours in 92-ball 73. Hampshire continue to chip away at the Notts' line-up.

We have already remarked on the poor batting form of prospective candidates for England's Test team against Pakistan. Given that, who do you think should be 1 to 6 in the order at Lord's on 24 May?

Talking of Pakistan, they have reduced Northamptonshire to 122-4 in their tour game at Wantage Road. Shadab Khan has two of the wickets to fall and also ran out Luke Procter.
