Summary

  • Eng 141-3 (Wyatt 50, Beaumont 35)

  • NZ 137-9; having been 84-2 in 10th over

  • Tri-series final, Chelmsford

  1. dropped catch

    CLOSE!published at 14 overs

    Eng 117-3

Sciver adds a single, Knight tries to help a short ball down the leg side and it's just out of the grasp of keeper Katey Martin and away for four. Another loose delivery on leg stump is flicked away for four by the England skipper., while Sciver dinks a four past the keeper.

So, Tahuhu's over produced a wide and three fours - but also created a close lbw shout (which the ball-tracker shows as "umpire's call") and a chance for a catch behind. 21 needed for England.

This is why Tahuhu's on - New Zealand need wickets.

  3. Eng 103-3published at 13.1 overs

    Target 138

Belatedly, New Zealand turn to their strike bowler Lea Tahuhu... as their eighth bowler, for the 14th over. An odd situation. And she nearly produces a wicket as Sciver swivel-pulls and is hit on the pad...

Here's that Leigh Kasperek catch to remove Danni Wyatt...

  5. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 13 overs

    Taylor b Kerr 12 (Eng 102-3)

Wow. Kerr spins down a peach of a googly which bowls the disbelieving Taylor, who's not often foxed by spin like that.

Nat Sciver (who came in at the fall of Beaumont's wicket) is joined by captain Heather Knight, and Kerr will be on a hat-trick next over.

Beaumont's fallen just two short of Meg Lanning's record for the most runs in a T20 series or tournament, which she set at the World T20 in 2014.

  7. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 12.5 overs

    Beaumont c Satterthwaite b Kerr 35 (Eng 102-2)

Beaumont falls for a breezy 35 as Amy Satterthwaite takes a skier at long-on.

Even if Wyatt and Beaumont go, England still have Taylor, Sciver, Knight, Jones... it shows the depth England have, but the gulf between these teams is getting bigger. England are together as a team all year, New Zealand only really get together for tours.

This was supposed to be a closer series, but England have dominated apart from one game. I don't know how close the ODIs will be.

  9. Eng 100-1published at 12 overs

    Beaumont 34 (29 balls), Taylor 11 (8)

A thankless task for Bates, both as a bowler and as a captain, in these circumstances. Two singles bring up the hundred for England, who need 38 from 48 balls.

  10. Eng 98-1published at 11.2 overs

    Target 138

Sarah Taylor isn't in the mood to hang around, taking Bates for successive boundaries - stepping across her stumps to sweep, before lofting an on-drive over mid-on.

This could be over very quickly, England only need 40 more...

Here's Danni Wyatt clearing the ropes...

  12. Eng 90-1published at 11 overs

Taylor tries to sweep a loose delivery from Kerr which is called as a legside wide and disappears to four - handing England five runs, and an extra delivery, on a plate.

Lea Tahuhu hasn't bowled, which is bizarre. She's one of the main bowlers and has been walking round from fine leg to mid-wicket, but hasn't bowled.

Lydia Greenway adds: The only thing I can think of is if she's picked up a niggle, but she seems to be moving fine.

  14. Eng 84-1published at 10 overs

    Target 138

Sarah Taylor in at three, she's off the mark with a single.

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 9.3 overs

    Wyatt c Kasperek b Bates 50 (Eng 81-1)

Danni Wyatt meets with triumph and disaster off successive deliveries - powering NZ captain Suzie Bates' medium pace through cow corner for four to bring up her fifty, then giving a catch to third man which is juggled a couple of times and eventually held by the relieved Leigh Kasperek.

  16. Eng 77-0published at 9 overs

    Need 61 from 66 balls

I'm even starting to wonder if Lea Tahuhu is off the field, as precocious leg-spinner Amelia Kerr comes on as New Zealand's sixth bowler.

It's relatively tidy from Kerr, four singles from the over. And I'm not sure if they have "official" drinks breaks in T20, but the England openers are having a drink between overs.

  17. WATCH: Ramping for successpublished at 17:01 British Summer Time 1 July 2018

Here's that ramp shot which brought Wyatt a four earlier:

  18. 6 runs

    Eng 73-0published at 8 overs

    Wyatt 44 (29 balls), Beaumont 29 (19)

Wyatt down on one knee, slog-sweep, and that's six over mid-wicket!

New Zealand are on course for an early shower here.

  19. Eng 66-0published at 7.2 overs

    Target 138

England's bowlers look in confident mood on the balcony - Anya Shrubsole sipping from an energy drink, but she will be hoping not to have to strap the pads on at this rate.

There's still no sign of Lea Tahuhu, New Zealand's fastest bowler, as Leigh Kasperek enters the attack as the White Ferns' third off-spinner - and she's confidently reverse-swept for four by Beaumont.

Danni Wyatt is much more comfortable against pace, she likes the ball coming on to her.
