New Zealand captain Suzie Bates: "It's so pleasing to get off a good start as we know South Africa and England are good Twenty20 sides. Sophie's one of those players you love having in your side as she can bowl bouncers and slower balls and with the bat, she can hit it a long way - she's added a lot at the top of the order. Sometimes it's tough on bowlers to ask them to bowl just one over but it worked well for us. We've got good variety in the bowling but our fielding was a bit sloppy at times if I'm being harsh. That was one of the best wickets I've played on, it's the best I've batted for a while."
South Africa captain Dane van Niekerk: "I think we went to Plan Z - there were a couple of run-out chances we didn't take, but the class of Suzie and Sophie, they'll make you pay. You can't hide in T20 cricket, it's not just the fielding - at the moment our execution as bowlers was pretty poor as well. We have to get back to the drawing board pretty quickly."

We were surprised that Laura Wolvaardt opened for South Africa, as normally Van Niekerk opens to make use of the fielding restrictions. But has Wolvaardt got the game to come in and manoeuvre the ball in the middle overs?

Something that South Africa will reflect on is the width they gave the New Zealand batters. If there was a hint of width, it made it easy for Bates and Devine to hit boundaries. But as soon as they bowled straighter, they made it more difficult to score.
Marizanne Kapp in at number eight, with two balls of the innings left, and she can only hit the first back to the bowler. A single to long-on off the last ball ensures they reach the milestone of 150 - but...

Jensen begins the final over with a wide as New Zealand appeal for a legside stumping. Not out. Van Niekerk then launches the first six of the innings over long-on,

Van Niekerk reaches a 39-ball fifty, South Africa picking up ones and twos as Kerr completes her spell, finishing with 0-22 from four.
Spoiler alert: They don't. Although Van Niekerk does well to drill a four back past the bowler. Stand by for the last rites of this match.
After a tidy first over, Peterson gets another. Lackay helps herself to a two and a single, while a missed sweep off the third ball by Van Niekerk means South Africa literally need to hit the last 15 balls of the innings for six to win this...

It's a dropped catch - and probably a missed stumping chance too - as Kerr spins one down which takes Lackay's outside edge, Martin gets a glove to it and the ball squirms away.
The game has realistically gone for South Africa - 92 needed from 18 balls - but how much can they boost their run rate?
