Bates moves across her stumps and wafts Ismail over short fine leg for four.
Ismail, with 0-35 from her first three overs, is back at the River End - Martin does her job with a square cut for one to get Bates back on strike. Bates shows confidence in her partner with a single to long-off, while another Martin single means it's NZ's highest score in this format.
Bates 105, Martin 1
Wicketkeeper Katey Martin is in at number three - having been given the gloves after Rachel Priest was dropped for this tour. She guides her first ball for a single to keep the strike - but will probably be trying her best to get her skipper on strike for the last two overs.

If Tazmin Brits had dropped that, I think Marizanne Kapp would have turned into the Hulk!
Devine c Brits b Kapp 73 (NZ 182-1)
Finally the NZ opening pair are parted as Devine goes for another big hit against the recalled Marizanne Kapp, and is pouched in the deep at long-on.
NZ 181-0
100 up! Bates reaches three figures from 55 balls and becomes the eighth women's T20 international centurion.
The roll of honour includes Meg Lanning, Beth Mooney, Shandre Fritz, Karen Rolton - while Deandra Dottin and Danni Wyatt have both done it twice.
The records keep coming - this is now the highest partnership for any wicket in women's T20 international cricket.
Bates clubs Van Niekerk for four through mid-wicket - she now has the highest score for NZ women in this format.
NZ 169-0
The carnage continues - Bates has 92 from 53, Devine 70 from 44.
And Suzie Bates is now the highest scorer in women's T20 internationals, having overtaken both Stafanie Taylor and previous leader Charlotte Edwards in the course of this innings.

Good fielding can spread very quickly, but bad fielding - like dropped catches - can do as well.
Shabnim Ismail returns, Bates swings and gets a bottom edge, and it's through Lizelle Lee for four, between the keeper's legs. And just when the ball beats the bat - when Devine attempts a "Natmeg" in the manner of England's Natalie Sciver, trying to hit the ball through her legs, it;s through Lee again for four byes. Oh dear, oh dear.
A keeper, a keeper, my kingdom for a competent wicketkeeper!

That was an amazing shot, and this is an amazing partnership.
NZ 156-0
You''ve got to take your chances here - Bates gives a sharp chance but the fielder can't hold on. Devine makes SA pay again with another powerful straight six.
Mali back into the attack, but the first ball is a full toss which Bates whacks over square leg for six.
This is now NZ's highest partnership in women's T20 internationals, for any wicket. And there are nearly six overs left!
Bates 78 (47 balls), Devine 61 (38)
How do you set a field to Suzie Bates when she's in this form? She's easily swatting South Africa for ones and twos all around the wicket. The last ball is launched over mid-wicket for six by Devine and they ought to be selling tin hats for spectators to wear in that part of the ground.
NZ 129-0
Devine reaches her 50 from 36 balls in the grand manner with a six over mid-wicket from Van Niekerk's bowling.
Bates 73 (44 balls), Devine 48 (35)
Devine can only rotate the strike with a single, but Luus serves up a Steve Smith-style full toss which Bates gleefully swipes through mid-wicket for four, before slamming four more through extra cover.

That's probably the most difficult place to hit a six against this type of bowling.
Luus the bowler, loose delivery and Bates gives herself room to crack a four through the covers and launch a huge six wide of long-off.
Let's not forget, both of this NZ opening pair are dual internationals - Devine has played hockey for New Zealand, while Bates appeared at the Beijing Olympics as part of the NZ basketball team. Van Niekerk is swept for a couple of singles, but the Proteas captain bowls a disciplined line and just for once, it's a boundary-free over.
New Zealand are toying with South Africa here, like a cat with a ball of wool. Bates dismissively pulls the last ball of Luus' over for one, and 200 certainly looks within the White Ferns' reach.
