    Worcs 0-0 v Hampshire 191

Daryl Mitchell and Tom Fell open the batting for Worcestershire.

This is probably their biggest innings of the season so far - if they get a handy lead it gives them a great chance of victory and pulling clear of the relegation zone.

Dale Steyn has the ball in hand.

  2. Wickets tumble at Canterburypublished at 15:38 British Summer Time 4 September 2018

    Kent 137 v Northants 30-5

It's worth having a closer look at events in Kent, where the game has followed a similar path to Taunton.

Kent were bowled out cheaply, but Matt Henry has ripped through Northants' top order with four wickets.

The big New Zealand paceman has 4-13 and 54 wickets for the season.

  3. Tea at Tauntonpublished at 15:35 British Summer Time 4 September 2018

    Somerset 82-6 v Lancashire 99

    Where do I start?

Somerset shot out Lancashire for 99 early in the afternoon session, with Jack Leach taking 5-28.

But Somerset's batsmen have struggled too and they're now six down.

11 wickets in the afternoon session, the hosts still trail by 17.

  6. Tea at Trent Bridgepublished at 15:28 British Summer Time 4 September 2018

Ben Duckett has motored to 24 - all of them coming in boundaries.

It's now tea at Trent Bridge.

  7. Tea at Chelmsfordpublished at 15:25 British Summer Time 4 September 2018

    Essex v Surrey 174-1 - tea

It was another session dominated by Surrey.

Rory Burns and Dean Elgar's stand is now worth 144 and Burns is 14 away from a fourth County Championship century of the season.

Elgar has provided superb support with 64.

Is this the day that cements Surrey's grip on the title?

There's really no stopping the Surrey juggernaut is there?

  9. Postpublished at 15:22 British Summer Time 4 September 2018

They've gone to tea at Chelmsford and New Road now, and Somerset and Notts won't be far behind.

So it seems like a good time to hand over to Gary Smee to take you through the final session.

WICKETpublished at 15:19 British Summer Time 4 September 2018

    Northeast c Mitchell b Parnell 48 (Worcs v Hants 191)

I'm sure Worcestershire would have taken that at the start of today...

Sam Northeast drives loosely at Wayne Parnell and is snaffled by Daryl Mitchell in the slips.

    That's quite a collapse from 80-1.

  11. wicket

    Slater c †Tattersall b Waite 109 (Notts 205-3 v Yorkshire)

Marc Webb: It's all very well having a pitch that works for Leach, but we have to be able to bat on it too, and get more than the oppo!!!

    Abell lbw b Maharaj 14 (Somerset 62-5 v Lancs 99)

This is... phenomenal, on too many levels.

Tom Abell is pinned lbw as he shifts to meet Keshav Maharaj, and I'm not sure any of us can find the words for whatever is going on with the batters down at Taunton.

I would ask for suggestions but I'd be a little bit worried about what you might come up with...

    Steyn c Cox b Parnell 25 (Worcs v Hants 168-9)

Worcestershire finally break a gutsy ninth-wicket stand...

Wayne Parnell fires in a yorker to Dale Steyn and the South African nicks it behind.

But only after a handy 25. Sam Northeast is joined in the middle by Fidel Edwards.

He struck six boundaries in his 27 balls - this game is still in the balance.

    Brathwaite lbw b Waite 71 (Notts 182-1 v Yorkshire)

Kraigg Brathwaite's impressive innings comes to an end!

He is trapped lbw by Matthew Waite to a ball that jagged back in.

His batting partner Ben Slater is still going strong at the crease on 103 from 170.
