    Somerset 37-3 v Lancashire 99

Somerset have found something of a rhythm, with James Hildreth finding three boundaries in one over.

He hits two straight drives from Tom Bailey, before a third boundary with a glorious cover drive.

While Hildreth is there, Somerset have hope of building a decent first-innings lead.

    Division Two latest

Well, well, there's a turn up for the books.

Northants have endured a miserable four-day campaign so far, but they've shot out second-placed Kent for 137 with the seamers doing the damage.

Sussex, in third and nine points behind, are going along nicely on 172-3 against Leicestershire.

Ged Ashton: Lancashire to bat again by tea

I wouldn't bet against it the way things are going at Taunton Ged.

A day of vintage batting, I'm sure we can all agree.

Graham Onions takes his second wicket, again via the inside edge, to dismiss Azhar Ali for a grand total of... one run.

We did joke earlier about Somerset rivaling Lancashire's batting capitulation, and at the moment they're doing a more than passable impression of it.

Lancashire resumed after lunch on 72-5, remember. Somerset are making that look, um, really good.

    Notts 159-0 Yorkshire

The Notts batters continue to show little mercy, as Kraigg Brathwaite hits his twelfth four of the day as he and Ben Slater reach 159, Braithwaite on 64 and Slater on 89.

    Abbott c & b Barnard 0 (Worcestershire v Hampshire 126-8)

Ed Barnard is having the time of his life out there today.

Three balls after taking his fifth wicket, he reacts superbly to hold onto a return catch to dismiss Kyle Abbott for 0.

It's an athletic move and he ends up on the floor, having stumbled trying to keep hold of the ball.

Today's impressive display means that Barnard has completed his fourth five-wicket haul of the campaign and has figures of 6-46.

Who should replace Alastair Cook as England opener? #bbccricket

Huw Rawlings: No point axing Jennings for the last test. Looked better in the 2nd innings. If they want to give Cook a deserved send-off then move him to 3, rest someone like Bairstow and try Burns? If they drop Jennings we'll need to find 2 openers. Taken ages to find 1!

All good in theory Huw, but Rory Burns wasn't named in the England squad at midday.

It's too early to say if Somerset will be able to emulate Lancashire's batting collapse today, but they haven't got off to the greatest start here.

    I mean, good grief.

Five balls after finding a boundary off his first ball, Ian Holland is out, caught at second slip by Daryl Mitchell off the bowling of Ed Barnard.

That's Barnard's fourth wicket of the day, and he has figures of 6-2-13-3 in his spell since lunch.

Would you bet against him taking a fifth?
