It's not enough - not yet - but Ed Barnard and Ben Cox are giving Worcestershire a fighting chance.

Nine more runs come from Zahir Khan's final over, four of them courtesy of Ed Barnard's stylish reverse sweep to the square leg boundary.

The partnership is worth 37 runs with two overs left for this pair to hit out.

A terrific diving stop by Alex Davies on the boundary prevents Ben Cox from adding four more, before Keaton Jennings denies Cox another boundary with a sharp dive at extra cover.

Ed Barnard tries to take the frustration out with a reverse slog-sweep, getting the ball up and over the infield but not quite getting the ball to the boundary.

Lancashire have done a great job here but they still need to be a bit cautious.

Ben Cox and Ed Barnard have already shared one big stand this summer on a big occasion - when they put on 115 in the One-Day Cup semi in June - and flayed Kent's attack to all parts of New Road.

    These two can bat!

Lovely stuff from Ed Barnard, breaking out the paddle shot to take four off part-timer Keaton Jennings.

Worcestershire are fighting back ever so slightly, eight runs coming from this over after nine from the last.

  5. Postpublished at 15 overs

Worcestershire Rapids 106-6 v Lancashire Lightning

Only two balls later after Moeen's dismissal, Worcestershire had slumped from 70-1 to 70-4 as Matt Parkinson turned one past the outside edge of Tom Fell's bat and Jos Buttler removed the bails.

Here's the moment that the game started to change in Lancashire's favour.

Moeen Ali had been flaying the Red Rose bowlers to all parts of Edgbaston, but once the England all-rounder fell then wickets started to tumble.

What's the best you can realistically hope for from here, Worcestershire fans?

You never quite know how a team will react to the pressure of a Finals Day run chase, so could 140 or 150 be enough?

The Rapids get a little bit of luck at last, an inside edge from Ed Barnard running down to fine leg as nine runs come from Toby Lester's latest over.

It was a bit of a nervy start from Lancashire in the first few overs but since the two leg-spinners have come on they have taken control of the game.

  9. wicket

WICKET Mitchell (lbw b Clark 6)published at 13.4 overs

Worcestershire Rapids 97-6 v Lancashire Lightning

Worcestershire were 65-1 after seven overs.

The past seven overs have been all Lancashire though, Jordan Clark getting the sixth wicket of the innings as Daryl Mitchell is given out lbw.

The Worcestershire all-rounder might feel a little aggrieved about the decision, as replays show the ball was just slipping down the leg-side.

  10. Postpublished at 13 overs

Worcestershire Rapids 94-5 v Lancashire Lightning

Matt Parkinson's spell is at an end.

It's been a wonderful display of leg-spin bowling, too much drift and too much spin for Worcestershire's batsmen to handle.

He finishes with 2-23 which doesn't quite do justice to the quality of those four overs.

  11. Postpublished at 12 overs

Worcestershire Rapids 87-5 v Lancashire Lightning

Lancashire are firmly in command now.

On a pretty good batting pitch, their spinners have taken four wickets for just 22 runs in the past five overs.

Dan O'Brien: Go @mattyparky96, external!! Game changer!

Scott: Matt Parkinson is the best spinner in the country by a mile. Never mind the batsmen, Buttler doesn't look like he can pick him.

Phil Robinson: Moeen's wicket was massive. Once we got him they started to fold. Keep up the good work

  13. wicket

WICKET Whiteley (b Parkinson 4)published at 10.4 overs

Worcestershire Rapids 82-5 v Lancashire Lightning

I know the pressure on these players must be enormous, but that's just a bit daft from Ross Whiteley.

He's almost out lbw to a Matt Parkinson ball which turns a little more than he expected and then he tries to hit a similar delivery over the top.

The ball grips again, beats him again and this time it clatters into leg-stump to send him back to the pavilion.

  14. Postpublished at 10 overs

Worcestershire Rapids 81-4 v Lancashire Lightning

A rare mistake from Zahir Khan, the left-arm wrist-spinner dragging one a bit short and down the leg side.

Ben Cox pulls it down to fine leg for a much-needed boundary.

Ex-Worcestershire all-rounder on BBC Radio 5 live Sports Extra

Three wickets in three balls has made this a re-building job for Worcestershire.

From a Worcestershire point of view Ross Whiteley is coming in a bit early here. Normally he likes to have five or six balls and then go in the last five or six overs, but coming in with 11 overs to go he has to play a different way here.

  16. Postpublished at 9 overs

The sun's out now in Birmingham, the ground has filled up nicely.

And until Moeen Ali just got out to set the fireworks off, there was the sort of contented murmur that you'd associate with any big ground on big match day.

The only thing iffy about the whole day so far had been Lancashire's fielding.

But, in the space of three balls, James Faulkner's steepling catch to get rid of Mo, the run-out and Jos Buttler's stumping of Tom Fell rather changed all that.

  18. wicket

WICKET Fell (st Buttler b Parkinson 23)published at 8.1 overs

Worcestershire Rapids 70-4 v Lancashire Lightning

From 70-1 to 70-4 in three balls.

Tom Fell had looked an assured presence at the crease, but he reaches a little too far forward to a Matt Parkinson delivery which grips and beats the outside edge.

Jos Buttler does the rest, whipping the bails off to send Fell packing.

  19. wicket

WICKET D'Oliveira (run out 0)published at 8 overs

Worcestershire Rapids 70-3 v Lancashire Lightning

    Gone without facing a ball!

Brett D'Oliveira is run out going for a quick single, as keeper Jos Buttler whips the bails off just in time.
