    Notts 334-7 v Yorkshire

Yorkshire fought back superbly in the evening session yesterday taking four wickets with the new ball.

Notts all-rounder Samit Patel is at the crease with Matt Milnes. Can they get to 400?

    Somerset 192 & Lancashire 99 & 9-2

I stand corrected... it's giant paceman Craig Overton, not Dom Bess sharing the bowling duties with Jack Leach.

    Essex v Surrey 257-4

There's no spin on show at Chelmsford yet.

Jamie Porter bowls the first over of the morning and concedes just a single.

Will Jacks and Ben Foakes are the two Surrey men in the middle.

    Somerset 192 v Lancashire 99 & 8-2

Unsurprisingly Jack Leach is opening the bowling for Somerset.

I'd put money on Dom Bess to take the ball at the other end.

Unfortunately it's not sunny everywhere. There is a bit of drizzle in the south east of England and there will be a delayed start at Canterbury.

A total of 18 wickets fell on day one - Kent were skittled for 137 and Northants were then reduced to 71-8. The batsmen might be pleased to stay in the pavilion for the time being.

    A batting day?published at 10:21 British Summer Time 5 September 2018

After yesterday's gloomy conditions, I'm pleased to say the forecast is looking much better for most areas today. It looks a picture at Taunton.

Worcestershire, who resume on 68-4 against Hampshire and still trailing by 123, will be looking to make the most of the clearer skies against their relegation-threatened rivals.

The final game in Division One sees Notts start on 332-7 against Yorkshire.

If Somerset do beat Lancashire today, the one side they'll want to slip up are Surrey.

The County Championship leaders are 32 points clear in the table, and Somerset will be desperate to claw some of those points back before the pair meet in the penultimate round.

Surrey just about shaded the opening day at Chelmsford thanks to some determined batting by Rory Burns (90) and Dean Elgar (75).

They'll be looking to push on when play gets under way at 10:30 BST.

I say wickets tumbled... 22 of them to be precise.

The track is a spinner's paradise, but both coaches weren't particularly happy with their sides' batting performances.

Lewis Gregory's brilliant 64 was the only score above 32.

Lancashire resume day two still trailing by 86. I'll be keeping a very close eye on proceedings in Somerset...

Yesterday's County Championship action wasn't bad was it?!

Wickets tumbled at Taunton, Surrey tightened their grip on the title and the relegation battle got even more interesting.

More of the same today please...
