    Incredible.

Somerset are collapsing with a target of just 78.

Graham Onions claims his third wicket, trapping Steve Davies lbw. They're still 55 runs away!

  2. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 5 September 2018

    Brook c Wood b Patel 47 (Nottinghamshire 448 v Yorkshire 137-3)

Curse of the commentator strikes again as Harry Brook is dismissed just short of his half-century.

The 19-year-old smacks Samit Patel straight to mid-wicket. He's livid with himself.

  3. 50 runs

for Ballancepublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 5 September 2018

    Notts 448 v Yorkshire 137-2

Gary Ballance is haring along at fine speed for Yorkshire and he reaches his half-century off 44 balls.

There were 11 fours in there, including two successive boundaries off Matt Milnes, but he has the look of a man possessed as he finds a further two boundaries: 62* from 52 for a Yorkshire side that desperately need points here.

Harry Brook, on 47, inches closer to his own half-century as he fires Harry Gurney away for four.

  4. wicket

Abell st Vilas b Maharaj 7 (Somerset 20-4, target 78)

Tom Abell wicketImage source, Rex Features

Somerset are in serious bother now.

Keshav Maharaj beats Tom Abell, the Somerset skipper drags his foot outside the crease and Dane Vilas whips off the bails.

    20-4! 58 still needed.

  5. wicket

    ten Doeschate c †Foakes b Clarke 2 (Surrey 351 v Essex 53-5)

Big ask for Essex to avoid the follow-on as Rikki Clarke dismisses Ryan ten Doeschate for his second.

The bastman clips Clarke's delivery with his inside edge and Ben Foakes skips to his right to take an easy catch behind.

    Somerset 16-3 (target 78)

Tom Abell punches his first ball to the boundary. But still a great over from Keshav Maharaj with the big wicket of James Hildreth.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 5 September 2018

    Holland b Tongue 15 (Worcs 120 v Hampshire 191 & 92-6)

That last post was well-timed and I apologise unreservedly to Ian Holland for making him the subject of the commentator's curse.

Josh Tongue takes his third wicket of the innings as he bowls Holland for 15, sending the bails sailing into the middle of next week.

  8. Postpublished at 14:38 British Summer Time 5 September 2018

    Worcs 120 v Hampshire 191 & 92-5

Ian Holland sends Josh Tongue through point for four as a Hampshire side that watched the wickets drop like flies earlier begin to find some rhythm with the pairing of Holland (15*) and Tom Alsop (27*).

Holland's strike rate is pretty impressive so far: he has scored 15 off 16 deliveries, including three boundaries, while Alsop has scored 27 from 54.

James Hildreth wicketImage source, Rex Features

This is bonkers. Somerset are 12-3 needing just 78 to win.

Keshav Maharaj fires in a quicker one at James Hildreth and it beats him all ends up. The middle stump is out the ground!

A couple of calm Somerset heads are needed here.

  10. wicket

    Bopara c Foakes b Clarke 6 (Essex 47-4 v Surrey 351)

    Rikki ClarkeImage source, Rex Features

Rikki Clarke claims his first wicket as he dismisses Ravi Bopara!

He top-edges his pull high into the sky and it's an easy one for Ben Foakes to claim.

Essex going to have to do some chasing now if they want to avoid the follow-on. They need 202.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:29 British Summer Time 5 September 2018

    Azhar c Croft b Onions 0 (Somerset 5-2, target 78)

    Out first ball!

Azhar Ali edges Graham Onions straight to slip.

Surely Somerset can't lose this one?

Maybe this one isn't over yet!

Graham Onions smacks Marcus Trescothick on the pads and it's given out.

That's the 11th time Onions has dismissed his former England team-mate.

  14. Leicestershire battle past 100published at 14:24 British Summer Time 5 September 2018

    Division Two latest

It's amazing how often this happens. Leicestershire were 49-9 at Sussex, but they've now taken their total beyond 100.

Callum Parkinson (34*) and Mohammad Abbas (25*) have put on 63 so far for the last wicket!

  15. Postpublished at 14:24 British Summer Time 5 September 2018

Nick Ellis: 30 wickets in a 4.5 sessions a Taunton. 18 of which have fallen to spin. There has been some bad dismissals, but that’s a bit of a joke and makes a mockery of fair balance between bat and ball.

Jacob Coton: Is it really a dodgy pitch when the number 11 outscores the top 4?

  19. Postpublished at 14:16 British Summer Time 5 September 2018

    Surrey 351 v Essex 36-3

Tom Westley is making a fist of this for Essex: he's on 18 from 34 after finding two boundaries from Conor McKerr in the 15th over.

Rikki Clarke then bowls his first maiden over to keep Ravi Bopara at bay.

Unsurprisingly - and the pitch might have a lot to answer for here - Jack Leach's match figures of 12-102 are career-best figures.
