England need 10 wickets to win this match.

You've still got to go through your processes. Yes, Mark Wood bowled exceptionally well in the first innings and he changed the game in that short spell. But remember, it is still just one spell of bowling. It doesn't mean he's going to do it every time. If you put him on straight away it puts a lot of pressure on him - it's saying "go on then, do it again".

Jonny Bairstow was halfway down the stairs. I wonder if someone else has made that decision for Root. They've got enough runs.

England have declared. He took a long time to make his decision - he waited until he got to the boundary rope.

Joe Root is furious! He's out. The England captain has chipped a full toss to midwicket. A fine century comes to an end but he's not going to be able to have some more fun with the bat this morning.

It was quite fatherly and mature from Joe Root - he said 'look you shouldn't say stuff like that'. Almost as if he was talking to his son.

Well done to Joe Root. We don't know exactly what was said but what we can take from it, is that whatever Joe thought he heard, his response was one of a leader. It's one thing being an England captain but having that awareness and presence in that moment to be prepared to stand up for something, that's what's interesting.

Players in that scenario could respond in a lot of ways, and not say much. In this age of diversity and people being free to be themselves, when you have an England captain who stands up for something in the moment - and he didn't have to respond - it was a point that he wanted to make and it was really powerful. He shows his integrity and belief. Really impressive from Root.

Root has shown the sort of person he is and the character he has deep down. banter and aggression can be fine but you can't cross a boundary - stuff that is disrespectful, like homophobia - and things like that need to be taken up.

I don't mind if somebody is told they have played and miss 100 times but when you move into derogatory terms, that is the line. If it is a homophobic comment it needs to be investigated and taken further.

    Root 122, Stokes 47

Quite sensibly Alzarri Joseph has stopped bowling line and length. He's bowling cross-seam yorkers as if he was in a T20 match. That keeps the scoring down for the rest of the over and tempts Root into another adventurous scoop that has as much success as the last.

Joe Root is not quite as powerful a hitter as Ben Stokes. You could tell that by just looking at the pair of them.

As a result Root tries a paddle over the wicketkeeper's head off Shannon Gabriel. He misses. He might need some more tips from Jos Buttler before trying that again.

Oh yes! Just stick to the textbook, Joe. He finishes the over by caressing Gabriel for a delightful four.
