Oooooh yeah he is having a look! I thought he fancied it.
This might be a bit closer than I first thought.

Hasan Ali has persuaded his captain to review an lbw shout against Joe Root.
This, on first glance, looks like a dire review.

Please can someone tell me why Jason Roy isn’t an automatic choice for the England Test side? He’s one of the classiest English batsmen, bowlers are intimidated by him, he’s an intelligent player, he’s got swagger and fantastic attitude and would surely adapt to Test cricket just like Jos Buttler has!

Shaheen, tall, bustling sort of run, gets clonked through third man by Eoin Morgan, but the stodgy outfield stops the England captain picking up four runs.
Just the five from the over.
Shaheen Afridi is coming back into the attack.

When it was raining, the TMS box became a source of entertainment.
Shot!
Eoin Morgan gets off the mark with a lovely cover drive. The fielder on the boundary dives and gets to the ball, but his body carries on sliding into the rope. Fakhar Zaman signals four straight away to the umpire.
No wonder Roy is fuming - there was a hundred there for the taking.
Captain Eoin Morgan is the new man at the crease.

The bat just sliced in his hand as he went to fetch it from outside off. Roy is absolutely fuming. But that's a good knock and got England off to a nice start.
Roy c Imad b Hasan 89 (Eng 178-2)
Oh, Jason.
Roy is livid with himself, thwacking his bat down on the ground as he watches Imad Wasim take a simple catch at mid-on. It's the right idea, Roy trying to pull the ball over mid-wicket, but he's gone through the shot too early. The ball bobbles up off the splice of the bat and Imad isn't going to miss that one.
Down the pitch comes Jason Roy, flashing a booming drive all along the ground, before Joe Root hustles a pull away off Hasan Ali.

Jason Roy, when he gets his eye in, is a serious player. He can destroy you.
Roy 86, Root 30
Haris Sohail picks up where he left off, flighting a couple of deliveries, and Jason Roy and Joe Root bunt them away for a smattering of singles.

Kumaran: Watching Root bat in ODIs in recent times makes one think of the great Mahela Jayawardene. Both players who just caress the ball around the ground at a run a ball without breaking sweat. No power necessary. There is still a place for it in ODIs.
We've lost no overs, which is good news for everyone involved.
A wayward outside edge gets Joe Root a single, before Jason Roy uppercuts the final ball of the over.
Hasan Ali has got two balls left of his over, and it'll be Joe Root to face the first of them.
Players!
Sunshine!
Cricket!
This six from Roy is another in a long line of glorious shots he has played today.

We've spoken about the success of England's opening partnership but Jason Roy and Joe Root bat well together too. This is the 22nd time they've batted together and it is the 11th time they've added 50 or more. There's five century partnerships in that and it's all at an average of 65.6.
