  1. Eng 285-3published at 37 overs

    Stokes 24, Moeen 5

Moeen looks like he needs this time in the middle. There was that chance he offered, the edge that followed and now he plays and misses at one from Hassan Ali who, to is credit, is still running in hard.

This was the drop from the start of this innings. The one a moment ago wasn't as bad but still should have been taken.

Sarfaraz's captaincy has been pretty poor today. Ben Stokes walked out, thrown in at number four to get some time in the middle, there's no slip and Shaheen Afridi finds the outside edge of the bat straight away. Sarfaraz just hadn't been in the game, he's been too reactionary.

And Moeen rubs the salt into Pakistan's bleeding wound by edging the following ball for four.

You wouldn't know England had lost a wicket an over ago. It is so flat. Pakistan don't look like they think they can win this and to be fair you can't blame them.

It's been a poor display in the field by Pakistan.

  5. dropped catch

Moeen dropped on 1published at 35.4 overs

Another one goes down! This was hit hard by Moeen Ali to Imad Wasim at extra cover who had to dive to his left but you'd expect an international cricketer to take it. It was at a nice height.

That sums up Pakistan's day in the field. They have been poor.

Need 79 runs from 90 balls

Moeen Ali is out at number five, another batsman England want to give time in the middle ahead of the World Cup. Root actually hit that aerial drive pretty well. He just didn't get enough elevation.

Root was looking for a big shot through the off side. He hit it hard and straight to mid-off.

    Oh, Joe.

Root tries to time another one over the infield but doesn't get enough elevation. He picks out Babar Azam of mid-off. There's still no big celebration from Pakistan.

  10. Eng 276-2published at 34 overs

The expression on Sarfaraz Ahmed's face says it all. No real anger or frustration. He just looks like he knows when England play like this on a pitch like this there's not a lot you can do.

Anyone remember being daunted at the prospect of chasing 250 in a World Cup final? Incredible how the game has changed.

    My word.

This has just silly. They're all at it.

One step, two steps and a check drive from Ben Stokes sails for six. That is a stunning shot over mid-on. He holds the pose and admires it. Quite right too.

Joe Root isn't always about the big shots. It's the timing that is key.

  14. Eng 268-2published at 33.1 overs

Is Joe Root trying to make a point?

He shows aggression for the second time in as many overs with a Jason Roy-style pull shot through mid-on. It rattles for four.

Joe Root can hit 'em too!

He plays a picture-perfect shot to Imad, taking a couple of steps down and chipping the left-armer back over his head for six.

    Beautiful.
