It's remarkable how comfortable England have made this feel. If they get there it will be the FIFTH highest successful run-chase by ANYONE EVER and currently the ground is quiet. Ben Stokes is just playing himself in. Joe Root is calmly going along at a run a ball. There is no pressure on England. No nerves in the crowd who are bathed in late evening sunshine.

    Remarkable.

    Just three from the over.

Kyle: Hopefully Ben Stokes plays his way back into form tonight as he will be a massive player for England in the World Cup.

Just too easy. The Pakistan fielders are starting to get annoyed with each other as Root adds four more with a tickle down to fine leg.

Bowler Junaid has his head in his hands. Hassan Ali runs in and starts shouting some orders. Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed is motionless behind the stumps.

Jake Berry: Starting to wonder why Pakistan agreed to a five-match one-day series against the best one-day side in the world, on their home grounds, just before the start of a World Cup. Could be awful for team spirit and looks to already have affected confidence of younger players.

But this one is timed perfectly from Ben Stokes. Too full from Shaheen Afridi and too straight too. With ease Stokes hits the ball to the rope.

This is his first bat of the series and the Durham all-rounder is away.

30 overs gone. Double the score from here?

  8. Eng 239-2published at 29.3 overs

Ooooo. Stokes nibbles at a full one from Shaheen and it goes nipping past his outside edge. He then does edge one right where first slip would have been! Frustration for Pakistan. Four to Stokes.

  9. Eng 234-2published at 29 overs

Ben Stokes is out at number four having been promoted to try and get himself into some form for the World Cup.

He starts with a leave and a forward defensive.

    A stunning hundred.

Jonny Bairstow scored 128 from 93 balls with 15 fours and five sixes at a strike-rate of 137.

He might get in a bit of trouble for hitting the stumps in frustration too.

    Ahhhh.

Jonny Bairstow's fun is over and the crowd all sigh in disappointment. He goes for one more big shot and under-edges onto his stumps.

Bairstow is absolutely furious and swishes his bat into the stumps.

I went to school with Jonny, playing cricket and rugby with him over a number of years. Not only a good friend, he was the most dedicated and talented sportsman I’ve ever come across. I’m so proud to watch him performing like he is, knowing how much he’s done to get there. Go on Jonny! What a century!

I remember thinking the same thing as Martin during the winter before last when Aaron Finch was hitting hundreds off 100 balls. It's just not quick enough.

Shaheen Afridi actually bowls a good over here, threatening to keep England to just one run from it, but on the final ball Jonny Bairstow has had enough of gentle pushing. He crunches another boundary.

Martin J Southam: England have set a new standard. My first thought on seeing Imam-ul-Haq score 151 was that he’d taken too many balls to get them as we have Bairstow & Roy. Extraordinary. 151 and I think ‘meh’. What a time to be an England cricket fan.

There's a chap watching this game out of a skylight in the roof of a house nearby. I don't blame him. You'd do anything you can to get a watch of this England batting unit. They're so good in form like this.
