I love the way Hasnain holds his action and snaps his wrist at the last moment, which gives him his pace.

Quick from young Hasnain but Jason Roy loves half volleys. His hands are so good. The fielder in the covers can't get near it to stop the boundary.

Mohammad Hasnain is coming on - the 19-year-old Pakistan quick.

I was away for the T20 between these two sides so this is the first time I've seen him bowl. By all accounts he can bowl well in excess of 90mph. Should be good.

It's very quiet at Trent Bridge. Are people bored of England winning in ODIs?

Roy is not going to let Imad Wasim settle. Absolute no-nonsense batting: if it's up then it's off.

  7. 6 runs

    Eng 45-0published at 6.2 overs

Thump. Spinner Imad Wasim is on early and Jason Roy doesn't even have a look. He crashes the first delivery he faces from the left-armer down the ground for a big six.

That's the first six of the innings.

  8. Eng 38-0published at 6 overs

    Roy 12, Vince 23

The umpires are wrapped up in their big black coats. The temperature has certainly dropped. Hassan Ali keeps things lively on the pitch by nudging 90mph with the ball.

I'm a huge fan of James Vince. I wish he could just get that first Test hundred then go on to have the career he should have. The 83 he got in Brisbane in the Ashes was sumptuous and he made one of the best fifties I've seen at Perth, then he was bowled by the most unplayable delivery.

  10. Eng 37-0published at 5.3 overs

Yasir Shah - on as a sub - gets a stare from Hassan Ali after letting one under his body in the ring meaning Vince gets another four. Hassan can hardly moan. It was a wide half-volley and he follows it with a couple of wides.

  11. Eng 29-0published at 5 overs

And England are away. Jason Roy hits the third boundary in the over by taking a step down to Junaid Khan and whacking him high over extra cover. It wasn't out of the middle but had enough on it to reach the boundary.

Now that shot from Vince would go in the highlights package. He climbed into the drive, with the full follow-through.

  13. Eng 24-0published at 4.3 overs

That's better! James Vince drives in classic James Vince style through mid-off.

    Four!

It wasn't desperation in that shot but there seemed to be a feeling that it was time for the ball to start going to the boundary.

England won't mind this start - no wickets down is the big thing for them, rather than the runs.

  16. Eng 20-0published at 4.2 overs

A second boundary to Vince but it's nowhere near as good as the previous one. The bat twists in his hand and there's a nasty clunk off the willow but it still goes for four.

  17. Eng 16-0published at 4 overs

    Target 341

The cloud has rolled in a bit and it's more gloomy. Maybe that is why the ball is nipping around a bit out of the hand of Hassan Ali. He beats Roy with an absolute beauty.

England's run-rate is just four an over. Is this 2008?

There's only been one boundary out of the middle so far...

  18. How's stat?!published at 17:33 British Summer Time 17 May 2019

England won 13 of their last 14 home completed ODIs.

They haven’t lost when chasing in this format in England since 5 September 2015, a run of 18 games (W17 T1).

  19. Eng 14-0published at 3 overs

    Roy 6, Vince 7

It feels like the crowd is just waiting for the big shot to get the party started. There's a quiet hum but no real atmosphere.

This wasn't that short. Jason Roy just launched into the shot and how it's not clipped the stumps is beyond me.
