  2. Eng 126-1published at 18.1 overs

After a quiet few overs of spin, Sarfaraz has brought Junaid Khan back into the attack. You feel Pakistan will have to take some wickets to win this. They're not going to restrict England otherwise.

  3. Eng 125-1published at 18 overs

    Target 341

Pakistan must hate the sight of Roy too. This is his third fifty of the series and fourth in a row against them.

Joe Root just ticks along at the other end meanwhile.

For a score of 500 to happen, it has to happen in the next eight weeks. I think after the World Cup, the ICC will look at things and wonder whether there needs to be more of a balance between bat and ball. Perhaps they'll go back to using just one ball so there's deterioration. I don't see 500 as a possibility with one ball because it will get too soft.

  5. Eng 123-1published at 17.3 overs

It doesn't feel like Jason Roy has got anywhere near top gear today but another four takes him to 65 from 53 balls. He's in pretty good nick at the perfect time for England.

These boundaries just feel like formalities.

  6. Eng 117-1published at 17 overs

    Roy 61, Root 9

Yet another fumble in the field from Pakistan. It's so sloppy. This one only costs an extra run. Four from Imad's over which it must be said was a lot better than his previous one.

Root and Roy are just steadying things after the loss of James Vince.

    Here is that wicket.

  8. Eng 113-1published at 16 overs

    Target 341

Good start from veteran Hafeez. Just three from his over. England couldn't get him away. Remember the days he and Saeed Ajmal used to bamboozle England? Eeeeee. Great times.

Pakistan's fielding, again, has been poor.

Mohammad Hafeez, no longer banned for a dodgy action, is coming on for a bowl of his off-spin.

He played well with the bat earlier on his return to the side...

England are well ahead of where Pakistan were at this stage as the players take a drink.

  12. Eng 110-1published at 15 overs

    Roy 57, Root 6

That should be the last of Imad for a while. An over that was poor ends with a second half-tracker. JRoy doesn't miss those. It's just a matter of whether it's four or six. Four this time.

  13. Eng 105-1published at 14.3 overs

Rubbish from Imad Wasim. Short and wide and even though Joe Root has only been in the middle for a few minutes it's still a freebie.

Root puts it between third man and backward point.

Mohammad Hasnain has just become the joint top wicket taker for Pakistan in this series. It's only the seventh wicket for their bowlers - seven bowlers have taken one wicket each.

  15. Eng 100-1published at 14 overs

That was a good over from Mohammad Hasnain. Twice he beat the England batsmen for pace. England's 100 is up.

  16. 50 runs

50 for Roypublished at 13.5 overs

A third fifty in a row for Jason Roy.

He won't like the way he got there - a top edge down to fine leg - but he's doing the job for England.

  17. Postpublished at 18:22 British Summer Time 17 May 2019

This situation looks perfect for new batsman Joe Root.

Vince seemed to be in a very awkward position to play that ball. He wasn't in line, more on the leg side of the ball, and then he got cramped. It became a very difficult shot to execute.

It was a brisk delivery and it's cannoned back onto his stumps. It wasn't a great looking dismissal from James Vince, I have to say.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 13.3 overs

    Vince b Hasnain 43 (Eng 94-1)

A start and out for James Vince. Have we said that before? I can't remember.

Was he beaten for pace by Mohammad Hasnain or has he just played a loose defensive stroke? It didn't look to be too difficult a delivery but with Vince playing a block the ball bounces down into the ground and up onto leg stump.

    Pakistan have their first wicket.
