Boyd Rankin swings - and Boyd Rankin misses!

Ireland are all out for 207, with a lead of 122 runs.

It's getting to the stage now where, if Moeen gets a wicket in this over, Jack Leach goes out to open as a nightwatchman.

With 15 minutes left in the day, Moeen Ali is coming on.

Tim Murtagh's strike rate today was 160. Magnificent.

  6. Ire 207-9published at 58 overs

    Lead by 122 runs

A huge appeal from behind the stumps as Kevin O'Brien plays around this latest Olly Stone delivery, but Stone instantly indicates that he's inside edged it.

Stone gets a couple of deliveries to lift up on O'Brien, and he somehow manages to avoid fending them to Rory Burns at short leg. Oh, and then O'Brien backs away, Stone chases him, and four horrid byes go whizzing over Jonny Bairstow's head.

I don't think England will bat quite as badly in the second innings.

  8. Ire 203-9published at 57 overs

    Lead by 118 runs

Boyd Rankin drives, and drives nicely, to pick up a couple through cover, before he ducks his way underneath a wayward Broad bouncer.

Kevin O'Brien and Rankin clip their way through the rest of the over - oh, but that's a thick outside edge from Rankin, and it's got enough on it to go for four!

What a day Tim Murtagh has had.

Kevin O'Brien has got very solid arms.

  11. Not outpublished at 56 overs

    Ire 195-9

Yep, that has come off Kevin O'Brien's arm!

He's going to have a nasty bruise to show for that.

There was a wooden-sounding nick to it...

  13. Postpublished at 18:36 British Summer Time 24 July 2019

Kevin O'Brien was going for a huge yahoo, but it looks as though it's missed the bat...

  14. England reviewpublished at 18:35 British Summer Time 24 July 2019

    Is this out?

Kevin O'Brien looks to have clipped the ball into the air, Olly Stone takes the catch, diving forward in his follow through, but the umpire is unmoved. What's this come off?

  15. Postpublished at 18:33 British Summer Time 24 July 2019

Boyd Rankin is coming out, looking for all the world like he's carrying a toy bat in his hands.

This has got England facing a tricky 15 minutes written all over it, hasn't it?

    WICKETpublished at 55.2 overs

    Murtagh c Burns b Stone 16 (Ire 195-9)

    Boooo.

Well, that's my favourite innings of the day over. Tim Murtagh faced 10 ball, scored 16 runs, and all of them came from boundaries. He goes for one more hoick and ends up picking out Rory Burns at deep mid-wicket.

  18. Ire 195-8published at 55.2 overs

    Facing England's quickest bowler?

No worries, Tim Murtagh will simply clonk the ball up and over mid-off for four. What a shot!

  19. Ire 191-8published at 55.1 overs

Kevin O'Brien takes a single off Olly Stone's first ball, which means Tim Murtagh is going to get some chin music...

There's still a chance that England, having won the toss and batted first, could have their openers unbeaten at stumps.
