Jon Richardson: Good on him for continuing, that was a sickening blow!
Steve Urry: Same bit of forearm next over Archer... How to get Smith out solved.

A little bit of spin there for Leach and after one attacking shot finds the fielder it's a maiden, so we can continue with our game within a game as Archer continues to the embattled Smith. How is he going to respond to being clattered on the arm?

Jeanna Louise Skinner: Looks like a break for Steve Smith. Desperately want to get rid of him but would be sad to see him go off injured.
Smith is at the non-striker's end as the rather more sedate left-arm spin of Leach continues to Cummins.

If I was an Justin Langer I would be telling Smith to get an arm guard on. He's their best player. It's the only way England can get him out.
Oh my goodness that has swollen up already. It's gone a shade of cerise. They are applying some tape over the offending area and somewhat belatedly an armguard. Smith is going to continue but he looks in all manner of pain.
That's got the crowd going, a short one from Archer and Smith ducks into it. He's got a sweatband on but no arm guard and it has caught him on the left forearm. He is in some discomfort here and the physio is on.

That is a magnificent stroke. Where would Australia be without Steve Smith?

Width from Archer and emphatically punched off the back foot by Smith for his ninth boundary.

Smith 66, Cummins 7
A fifth over for left-arm spinner Jack Leach, no short-leg for Smith but one comes in for Cummins, plus Stokes at slip. An appeal for lbw but no challenge and they were right not to, it was heading down the leg side, both teams with two reviews remaining.
Here's the wicket of Tim Paine for 23 to make it 162-6, neatly taken by Buttler wasn't it?

That really did fly through.

Archer is cranking it up here, 93.4mph, but it flies over everything, including the gloves of Bairstow, and it goes away for four byes.
What a superb shot this is. Masterful.

England supporters might say Smith walking back to the pavilion would be a better sight but no sign of that yet. Not a short one from Archer to Cummins as expected and the Australia paceman gets it safely through the gully for three to get off the mark first ball.

A moral victory at least for Broad as Smith gets a thick edge, but it skews away safely for two and the next ball is imperiously flicked off his pads to the mid-wicket boundary. It would have been plumb lbw had he missed it - but he didn't.

This could be England's last little dip. It's a crucial 30 or 40 minutes. Attack!
