There are still a fair few clouds in the sky but it's nowhere near as dark as it was this time yesterday. Will it still swing? We'll find out soon.

It's not that you want it to be gloomy, but there is a little disappointment when you open the curtains and see the sun shining. Why? These are the conditions in which Steve Smith could bat all day. That is one way this game could still end in a result. The other is if England have the Aussies rolled by just after lunch.

Less than 10 minutes to go until the start of play on Saturday at Lord's.

The ground is almost full already with the crowd patiently waiting with that traditional hum.

Steve Smith, talking to Test Match Special about his leave: "I actually don't know that I'm that idiosyncratic. I guess its part of what i do. I'm in my bubble. Hopefully we see a few of those today!

"I don't think this pitch is too dissimilar to Edgbaston. As the game went on there, it got a bit slower and lower. This one still has a bit of sideways movement, maybe a fraction more pace in it."

In the mood for a hundred? "Why not?!"

I thought all four of them bowled very, very well. It was just unfortunate they couldn't get back out after lunch. It's the best they've bowled as a group, I think, for some time.

If they can dislodge Steve Smith in the first hour, that is the key. If they can do that, I believe England have got a decent chance of getting a lead, and then batting out the day.

How does Smith not know he's doing it?!

He seemed even more eccentric yesterday.

If England can get an early breakthrough, they've got Tim Paine coming in at seven - and then it's the bowlers. England could quite easily secure a first-innings lead, so it is evenly poised. Those turning up and saying it will be a draw... I don't see it like that.

Australia coach Justin Langer has been speaking to Sky Sports.

He has also been asked if he thinks there's enough time for a result.

    "I think so," he said.

"The first session will be very important for both teams. The closer we get to England's score put us at a huge advantage. If England bowl well like they did yesterday then it is really game on."

Today feels like a better day for batting than yesterday. I think Australia might come out and play more positively, but that might create an opportunity for England.

Australia will resume this morning on 80-4, still 178 runs behind England.

Once again the figure of Steve Smith looms large. Can England get him out this morning?

If they do then things will get really interesting.

We can finally strap ourselves in for two full days of cricket without interruptions.

England bowler Stuart Broad certainly thinks there's enough time left for England to win.

The hosts took three quick wickets yesterday morning before the rain and that has kept them in with a shout.

"It's set up for two brilliant days," Broad told Test Match Special.

"We probably have to knock Australia over by lunch tomorrow [Saturday] and that will be our aim."

It looks like the rain is behind us.

Now can either team force a result in the two days remaining?
