Andrew Morris: You don't deserve to win after abject batting performances, and as an England fan, it's all the more frustrating when you know they have it in them to bat appropriately. Even an extra 50 runs would have been key in the 1st innings.

Sri Lanka's Kusal Perera and Vishwa Fernando added 78 for the final wicket to beat South Africa in February this year.

Perera got 67 of those, Fernando got six and there were some extras.

That's the world record in all first class cricket.

    England need 73.

Stuart Broad was expecting the bouncer. That full, straight one instead from a quality bowler like James Pattinson is very tough to keep out.

A funereal feel to proceedings now as Jack Leach comes out into the middle.

    It's all but over.

That was plumb. A bluff from Pattinson, pushing him back then pushing it full.

Stuart Broad is out, lbw to a fabulous yorker. He's reviewed it but I think he's clutching at straws...

    73 to win

So we've two left handers in. Stuart Broad to face Pattinson.

He's in his second Test. You can get drawn into that.

He was hitting with the spin, so it wasn't the silliest option. But with Stokes at the other end he had to dig in.

Archer went to the well once too often.

I can't believe that Stokes told him that was the way to go after already hitting two fours in the over.

    Archer c Head b Lyon 15 (Eng 286-8)

    That's that.

He'd middled two big fours, blocked one out and then went again, Jofra Archer slog sweeping Nathan Lyon away. It nearly goes for six but Travis Head takes the catch right on the rope.

    Enter Stuart Broad.

You get a bit of luck and then if you can get it down to 50 the pressure goes back onto the Aussies.
