That is like thinking you've won the lottery then finding out that your ticket is a week out of date, but only after you've spent the money on a mansion, yacht, car and beer made from the tears of unicorns. And your wife has left you.
Errrm.... Joe Denly is coming on.

What did they feed Steve Smith at lunch? He has certainly not settled. In this Leach over he gets in a tangle with a forward defensive stroke and then almost gets run-out but silly point.
How must those England players - in particular Jack Leach - be feeling?

Dominic Perry: Bad luck definitely comes in 3’s. Ripped my shirt at work this morning. Spilt coke on a carpet coming in from lunch. And now Steve Smith is not out because of a no-ball!
Steve Smith offered this chance even before the no-ball reprieve...

Steve Smith has now gone past 500 runs in this series. He's the first player from either side to do it in three consecutive Ashes series.
Smith 125, Paine 21
What is this?
Ben Stokes now bowls a no-ball. He then gives Steve Smith a freebie of a full toss which is smashed to the boundary.

The party stand are consoling themselves by volleying a watermelon beach ball around. Is it the same one that Jofra Archer rescued off the steward at Headingley?
England are rattled. Very rattled.
Steve Smith almost plays onto his stumps. He ends up comically chasing the ball behind him making sure it doesn't drop onto the timbers but when the ball bounces safely he flicks it out of the grasp of Jonny Bairstow.
Bairstow is not happy and has a moan to the umpire.

It's not often you see Joe Root animated but he had some harsh words after that no-ball.
Smith 120, Paine 20
Seriously? Can you believe that?
It's hard enough to get Smith out as it is. We're now being treated to some slow motion replays of gleeful Australians in the crowd.

The howls of anguish that went up after that no-ball was confirmed could be heard in Wilmslow.
Talk about a change of fortunes for Jack Leach. He was the nation's new hero last week. Now he has dismissed Steve Smith but it's ruled out because of a no-ball.

A reprieve! The last thing England want is for that to occur. That is one of the great crimes of cricket, for a slow bowler to be done for a no ball.
Joe Root is having some stern words with his team. He's called them all into a huddle.
Utterly inexcusable from a spinner.
Jack Leach has bowled a no-ball. Steve Smith is called back to the crease.
They are checking the replays. It doesn't look like Jack Leach's boot is behind the line.
This is a no-ball!
