Actually, the bigger cover was removed but the smaller square cover is coming back on in its place.
However...
I think there are plenty of people with you Jonathon but it doesn't look like it's going to happen. The forecast suggests we will get play this afternoon.

Feel sorry for those who went to see play but a couple of days worth of rain would suit me fine.

The square cover is coming off.
England assistant coach Chris Silverwood, speaking to Sky Sports: "Everything we have thrown at him he seems to have an answer to. It is great to watch him, preferably not against us.
"We have tried all sorts of plans against him and he seems to figure out a way."
Australia batsman Steve Smith on TMS: "We're in a good space. You can never get too far ahead of yourself but we're certainly in a very good position.
"If we get the ball in the right areas, particularly when the ball is new, we can challenge the defence of the English batters - and I think the ball will turn - it will be tough."
Sorry England fans. Not only is there actual brightness as Jack says, they are now taking the covers off.

Actual brightness.
What a Test match that was!

The odd patch of blue sky over Old Trafford now. But it's still pretty cold and breezy out there - not the sort of weather needed to dry the outfield quickly.
It's a really tricky position to be in, isn't it?!

Dantheman: Juxtaposition of wanting the rain to stop so play can start and wanting it to carry on raining so England don’t lose the Test....

Rob Bailey has appeared. He has got his umpire's umbrella rolled up.
He has been sent out as a scout to have a look and assess where the puddles are.
It's definitely brightening up.
It might be a little brighter now at Old Trafford. It's still cloudy and I think it's still drizzling but it may be a little brighter.
