A solid morning session for England - let's have a look back at it...
Like the players, I'm off for some lunch.
Here's Jack Skelton.
A decent session from England but Australia are still hanging in the match.
England still need another good session to be confident.

Tim Paine wanted another over - it stinks of a man who won the toss and made the wrong decision. England are in a great position at lunch.

The umpires aren't having any of it.
That's lunch.
Tim Paine is sprinting to the other end at the end of the over. He wants another...
This might be the last over before lunch but with Lyon bowling they may squeeze in another.

I think 2-2 would mean a great summer for English cricket. England should have won the second Test at Lord's.

Denly 37, Stokes 0
Denly has been hit near to his groin again! It has been a painful session for the England batsman.

Have we just been sledged by Andrew?

If the series does finish 2-2, Australia are way ahead on the boundary count.
Four half-centuries in the series for Root but no century.
Two first-ballers and a second-baller...

New batsman Ben Stokes blocks out the rest of the over. The last ball almost sneaks onto his pads. England still need more runs.

Barney: Joe please, for the sake of your own career, give up the captaincy. We need your runs, not your passive/reactive captaincy.
That ball wasn't anything special. Root will be really disappointed to get out to it.
The England captain's underwhelming Ashes with the bat are over.

Didn't turn.

The change of ends has worked for Nathan Lyon.
Root c Smith b Lyon 21 (Eng 87-2)
Joe Root isn't going to be able to busily kick on. He's out at a really bad time just before lunch.
He prods forward to Nathan Lyon who has just returned to the attack and gets an outside edge to slip.
Australia are still hanging in the match.
There's a good debate going on about that comment from Tuffers on TMS. Simon Mann doesn't agree.
Is a draw a draw in this series? Or is it all about the urn?

Retain the Ashes, jolly good, whatever. But 2-2 is a draw. You ain't won the Ashes then.
