  1. Afg 143-5published at 31 overs

In steams Mitchell Starc and his first delivery hits Najibullah Zadran in the gap between pad and thigh pad. That will hurt. Najibullah winces in pain but is able to continue.

He doesn't look comfortable facing Starc at all but does manage to squeeze one off his pads fine for four. He then nudges the ball into the onside for a single. Gulbadin Naib completes the over with a wild slap straight down the ground for four.

That over got better as it went on for Afghanistan.

This is the longest drink break I've ever seen. The umpire won't let Mitchell Starc bowl.

They are messing about with the sightscreens.

Sam Roberts: I’d be interested to see the front foot of Zampa off that last six. Looked very close and find it odd that umpires still only check front foot on wicket deliveries. Surely the third umpire could check this every ball? Did they not even trial this two summers ago?

Some stern looking faces on some of the Australia players in the past couple of overs.

A couple of big sixes conceded, some loose throws leading to overthrows and a few wides have brought a noticeable change in mood.

The Afghanistan fans in the crowd though are loving this and waving those flags with even more enthusiasm.

The 22 runs scored in the Adam Zampa over is the most that Afghanistan have scored in a single over against a top 10-ranked side.

Australia are starting to look a big ragged.

  9. Afg 134-5published at 30 overs

That Adam Zampa over seems to have knocked Australia off their stride. A sloppy overthrow gifts Afghanistan a single. Gulbadin then ends a mis-timed pull into the on side for two.

Five off the over in total.

    Here we go Afghanistan!

The flags are waving on the far side now. There are some joyous scenes for the first six of the Afghanistan innings.

That last six bought up the 50 partnership in 8.4 overs.

  12. 6 runs

    Afg 129-5published at 29 overs

Najibullah Zadran is giving Adam Zampa the treatment!

He hits two fours in three balls...then a maximum over long on for the first six of the day.

Zampa comes in again... and it's another six! Najibullah hauls a booming shot over mid-wicket!

Best over of the day for Afghanistan by a distance.

Some more shirt stuff from Nathan Coulter-Nile. Gulbadin Naib is eventually tempted into having a swing but can't get anything on it.

A maiden over from the Aussie pace bowler.

It's probably the worst ball he's bowled but Najibullah just opened his wrists there to hit it through mid-off. He looked very dodgy against Pat Cummins but he's settling now.

  15. Afg 107-5published at 27 overs

Najibullah Zadran looks much more comfortable facing spin. Adam Zampa's third delivery is too full and Najibullah is quick on it, driving beyond mid-off for four.

  16. Afg 102-5published at 26 overs

Nathan Coulter-Nile responds well to being hit for four. His final ball of the over is a bouncer that Najibullah Zadran successfully evades.

  17. Afg 102-5published at 25.3 overs

Nathan Coulter-Nile comes into the attack and that's well played by Najibullah. It's short and wide but cut away nicely through point for four.

    Thank Callum.

If this Afghanistan innings follows the same pattern it did against England earlier this week then these next few overs could be quite eventful…

  19. Afg 98-5published at 25 overs

Seven runs come from Adam Zampa's fifth over.

Tom Mallows is going to take you through the rest of the Afghanistan innings.

  20. Afg 97-5published at 24.4 overs

    Shot!

Najibullah Zadran decides it is time to premeditate and crunches a reverse sweep to the point boundary.
