  1. Ban 29-1published at 7 overs

    Target 387

Plenty of support for Bangladesh in the Cardiff sunshine, there is a diminutive man of mature years dressed in a Tiger onesie which is not something you see every day and Shakib is looking in good touch, cutting Woakes for two to third man.

I should say, with Jimmy Anderson in earshot, that it's great to see a genuine pace bowler steaming in for England and bowling fast.

  4. Ban 21-1published at 6 overs

    Tamim 10, Shakib 9

After that chastening 0-79 in the previous match against Pakistan, Archer has 1-3 from his opening three overs and is again up in the mid-nineties mph.

  5. Ban 18-1published at 5 overs

    Tamim 9, Shakib 7

Shakib away with an edge between second slip and gully and it races away for the second boundary of the innings. What a shot he attempts next up, dancing down the wicket and it's a tennis-style smash down the ground for two. French Open coverage here by the way. Bangladesh ahead of England at the same stage, but that may change...

  7. Ban 8-1published at 4 overs

    Target 387

We've seen the highest score of the tournament, is Archer going to bowl the first 100mph delivery? He has already clocked 95 and 94. Experienced left-hander Shakib is the new batsman. He is approaching 6,000 ODI runs in 201 matches with a best of 134 not out but he will not have faced bowling quicker than this.

I know he's bowling with the wind, but it's frightening the carry Archer's getting. He's really hurrying up the Bangladesh batsmen.

    Sarkar b Archer 2 (Ban 8-1)

The ball has gone for six - but it's after knocking the off bail out. It was 89mph from Archer having had one at 95mph dropped at his feet by Root at first slip the ball before.

  10. Ban 8-0published at 3 overs

    Woakes 0-8 from 2

The first loose ball from England and Tamim carves it over square cover for the first Bangladesh boundary.

England centurion Jason Roy interviewed during the interval - not from his current fielding position: "It was good fun, we knew we had to get a good total on the board and redeem ourselves after the last game so hopefully that's enough. There was a bit of change in the game plan, we didn't allow them to get early wickets and we knew we would be able to catch up. There is definitely something in it for the quicks, especially early on, hopefully we can defend that."

  12. Ban 1-0published at 2 overs

    Target 387

The lithe figure of Jofra Archer takes the new ball at the other end, his chunky watch and blue wristband on his left arm. Nonchalantly from a short run he sends down a rasping delivery at 88mph and Tamim is beaten for pace as he makes no contact with an attempted pull. Jonny bairstow takes it high above his head, Jonny with the gloves remember after an injury to Jos Buttler during his explosive 64.

Re 14:15 - Drop Ben Stokes for a "batsman"? Surely not just me that doesn't really see the need to extend arguably the deepest batting line up in world cricket. Especially when it means dropping a more than capable all rounder who is also one of the best fielders in the world.

I think this is going to be an exciting start. Bangladesh are going to have to start quickly to get anywhere near this total and England will bowl aggressively.

I wonder how much Bangladesh will learn from the England innings. The England batsmen got themselves in and didn't go hung ho from the start.

Some alarming bowling figures as you might expect, "the Fiz" with 1-75 in nine overs and Mosaddek two overs for 24 just two of the unfortunate men.

Chris Woakes only faced eight balls but he hit two of them for six. I told you we wouldn't have time for all of the action, the England players are coming out to the centre now. We'll catch up later.
