That was a strange one. His head was almost at glove height when it hit him.

Oh dear - that wasn't nice to see on several levels for Rashid Khan.

Rashid Khan got himself into a terrible tangle there.

  4. wicket

    Rashid b Ferguson 0 (Afg 131-8)

Strange old dismissal! Rashid doesn't pick the ball up, I don't think, from Lockie Ferguson, he ducks into a decent-length ball and ends up wearing it right in his grill. To make matters worse, the ball cannons off his helmet and into the stumps.

Good to see that a few New Zealand players gather round the stricken batsman in concern. He's OK though. Didn't see it.

  5. Afg 131-7published at 33.3 overs

Rashid is on strike. A slash outside off, no connection. Promising signs of intent though.

Big cheers from the Afghanistan supporters around the ground as Rashid Khan strides out to the middle.

Watch out for the front-foot pull shot if he has the chance to get going. Deployed that one quite impressively a few times last weekend at Bristol against Australia.

  7. Afg 130-7published at 33 overs

Seventeen overs left, three wickets left. The run rate is under four. Afghanistan have been so meek since their openers were out.

The game might change a bit with Rashid Khan in.

Rashid Khan is the new batsman. I'm told he's going to tee off.

That was a strange one. It was one of those where if you're not paying attention you might think it's a bump ball.

It was a good catch in the end. He's in quite close there really.

  12. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 32.4 overs

    Ikram c Guptill b De Grandhomme 2 (Afg 130-7)

Maidens and dot balls take their toll in the end, Ikram has to try and get the scorecard at least ticking along and can only drill a half-volley to the safest of hands of Martin Guptill at gully. Clean take.

  13. Afg 130-6published at 32.3 overs

Time for the greatest of World Cup names, Colin de Grandhomme, to have a bowl. Tall, strong, pencil straight action. Restrictive.

Runs are an endangered species out there.

There was no power in that throw at all.

  15. Afg 130-6published at 31.5 overs

There's a streaky single taken and Hashmatullah would have been in trouble, but Colin Munro's throw is not a good one.

  16. Afg 129-6published at 31.3 overs

Lockie Ferguson is back into the attack and bang on the money straight away - three dot balls to start the innings.

He is leaping but it's mark two. It was almost identical to the one he dropped earlier.

  19. dropped catch

Ikram dropped on 0published at 31 overs

That's the second catch that Ross Taylor hasn't been able to take at slip and they've both been similar - and very tough.

Ikram Ali Khil slashes outside off stump and shovels a chance high above Taylor's head, he gets one hand to it but can't cling on. Tough chance.

You'd like to think so, Bryan.

New Zealand have really put the brakes on again after that last wicket, runs at a real premium out there. Hashmatullah is able to work Matt Henry away for a single.
