India opener Rohit Sharma: "We are happy with the way we played as a team, we wanted to go out on the park and play. It has been frustrating with the weather but we wanted to play a solid game.

"I was unhappy with how I got out, I should have read the ball better. It was a misjudgement and once you are set you want to get as many runs as possible. I got out at the wrong time, the partnership was solid and we wanted to kill the game there."

...I think we can all agree that it wasn't very edifying or satisfying.

India can now celebrate their victory. For Pakistan that is now a worrying state of affairs. The odds are that has finished their World Cup. What a funny old game.

And now Bumrah bangs down a second short ball of the over, so it's a no ball and it goes for four so that's five runs.

    Hilarious garbage.

  15. Pak 202-6published at 38.5 overs

Need 100 runs from seven balls

MS Dhoni spills a bouncer and very nearly drops it on his helmet, which would've conceded five runs and also be exactly what this situation needed.

Stuart Mitchell: I'm a cricket fan and I couldn't explain this to a fellow cricket fan let alone someone new to the sport. This is the biggest single game in the World Cup viewed by the biggest audience worldwide (other than probably the final) and it's a farce how this is ending.
