  1. dropped catch

Gayle dropped on 59published at 18 overs

    Dropped twice in the over!

It's a slightly despairing dive from Colin Munro at deep mid-wicket as Chris Gayle goes on the slog, but this New Zealand team have taken tougher grabs than that. To add insult to injury, it runs away for four.

That should have been taken quite comfortably, he didn't have to move an inch.

  3. dropped catch

Gayle dropped on 58published at 17.3 overs

    Stop dropping Chris Gayle!

This is horrible from Matt Henry, who has had better games. A big full toss, Chris Gayle miscues it and Henry drops a sitter at deep square leg. My word.

  4. 6 runs

    WI 108-2published at 17.2 overs

    Well, that was coming!

Chris Gayle gets underneath Mitch Santner and deposits him over deep mid-wicket. Colin Munro makes a despairing dive and ends up clattering into the advertising boards.

These teams met in a warm-up game before the World Cup. Matt Henry took 2-107 from nine overs.

Henry can be very expensive - he's gone for 42 off five overs, that's not what New Zealand want. Someone needs to contain these batsmen - it seems the quicker they bowl, the faster it goes to the boundary.

  7. WI 102-2published at 17 overs

    Target 292

Chris Gayle is on 52, Shimron Hetmyer 43 - and this is their respective highest scores of the World Cup.

If they bowl to him there, they'll be picking it out of the pickets.

(For those of you who know NZ grounds and their white picket fences, this is entirely accurate).

  9. WI 101-2published at 16.3 overs

    Target 292

Matt Henry has had a change of ends, switching to the James Anderson End - but he drops it too short and is clubbed through mid-wicket for four by Shimron Hetmyer. Next ball, same delivery, same result. Hundred up.

I was interested to see Colin Munro, who bowls a few little dobbers, warming up at the start of play - so we might see him bowl a little if needed.

  11. drinks break

    Drinks breakpublished at 16 overs

    WI 92-2

Decent start from Mitch Santner, conceding just three singles from his opening over.

    Time for drinks.

Hello, a change of pace - here's Mitch Santner.

Just a wee bit short from the New Zealand bowlers - that's the deliveries West Indies are scoring from. They've obviously talked about bowling short, and it's brought the wicket of Pooran - but since then, every short ball has been latched on to by Hetmyer or Gayle.

  14. 50 runs

50 for Gaylepublished at 14.5 overs

A run a ball half-century for the big fella!

It comes in typical fashion for Chris Gayle, leaning back and cutting a huge four away off Jimmy Neesham. Just the five fours and three sixes in this knock so far...

  15. WI 85-2published at 14.3 overs

Shimron Hetmyer pulls but it's not quite timed, and it's cut off by the man in the deep, before Jimmy Neesham cuts Chris Gayle in half with a delivery that cramps him for room.

Changes of pace are difficult to do on this surface, as the ball is sticking in the pitch. New Zealand have tried to attack Gayle with the short ball early, that's not worked although he gave the one chance which was a very hard catch running back from the circle.

  17. WI 84-2published at 14 overs

Current run rate: six an over.

    Required rate: 5.77.

Gayle shouldn't be able to pinch a single like that.

I don't want to sound like my dad, but Chris Gayle's bat is essentially a tree trunk with a handle on.

He sees off three dot balls from Lockie Ferguson before jogging a single, and Shimron Hetmyer celebrates by smashing a gorgeous four straight back down the ground!

That was a good stop by Guptill in that over. The fielders are under pressure, because the bowlers are. A much better over from Neesham.
