You generally see the bat get turned around so you can use the flat bit of the bat in that shot, but Latham tried to use the back of it.

  2. NZ 199-3published at 40.1 overs

Remarkable. Tom Latham has just tried to reverse sweep the ball with the back of his bat. He didn't turn the bat round in his hands at all.

Is that even a reverse sweep then? What do you call that?

In the last week we've seen some incredible batting, but my two favourite innings have been from the New Zealand captain. He's a master craftsman in knowing how to play an innings. It's the way he seems to read the play, the situation, and work out what shots are on. He plays low-risk shots that give him a huge amount of reward.

    Run rate 4.98

A big over for New Zealand - 12 from it.

If they can keep that going, 300 is still on.

That is a delightful shot from the bat of Kane Williamson! Not overhit, just caressed through the cover field.

  9. NZ 195-3published at 39.2 overs

A cover drive from Kane Williamson so classical it could be broadcast on Radio 3.

Make that back to back fours.

Kane Williamson advanced forward and he knew long leg was inside the circle. We may see a different side of Williamson now.

  11. NZ 191-3published at 39.1 overs

Is Kane going to kick on now?

Short from Jason Holder on leg stump and Williamson whips it over backward square for four.

  13. NZ 187-3published at 39 overs

    Williamson 106, Latham 6

Ashley Nurse returns in tidy fashion and New Zealand can only tap four singles off the over.

Kane Williamson is casually averaging over 300 in this tournament.

    Get wicket.

    Injure shoulder celebrating.

All in a day's work for the Universe Boss.

  15. NZ 183-3published at 38 overs

    Williamson 104, Latham 4

Kane Williamson is a very unassuming, even shy, man.

He'll probably describe that century as "yeah, good."

We'll do the praise for him - he's been sublime yet again.

Kane Williamson now has as many ODI centuries in England (four in 14 knocks) as he does in New Zealand (four in 71).

Nicely played, Kane Williamson! His 13th one-day hundred.

  19. 100 runs

100 for Williamsonpublished at 37.3 overs

And after facing four dot balls on 99, Kane Williamson gets a gift to reach three figures.

Kemar Roach bangs it down, the ball sits up and Williamson swivels it away round the corner for four.

A second very special innings in a row for the Kiwi skipper after that majestic 106 not out to beat South Africa earlier in the week.
