Williamson 91 from 110 balls
Delicious. Kane Williamson cracks the returning Carlos Brathwaite through the covers, elbow high, timing immaculate.
That takes the Kiwi captain into the 90s.

Chris Gayle, in his massive mirrored aviators, twirls in and Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor nudge five singles, bringing up the 150 partnership along the way.
This West Indies side really miss a frontline spinner. I'm not quite sure why Mushtaq Ahmed is on the backroom staff.

Chris Gayle gets a cheer for everything he does. Even when he takes his cap off.
Chris Gayle is going to bowl!
In cap and sunglasses?
No, just sunglasses.
Williamson 83, Taylor 65
Good over from Oshane Thomas, conceding only three runs, two of which came from Ross Taylor under edging a pull shot away.
Time for a drink.

If you look at the last five overs, we've had three of eight runs, one of seven and one of six. So 37 from the last five - New Zealand are just starting to become accustomed to the pitch. Whether it's enough, we're going to have to wait until West Indies bat.

Williamson 82, Taylor 63
There should perhaps be a rule that Ashley Nurse doesn't actually have to bowl his overs here, just give the batsmen three singles each.
Can't see him getting either set batsman out as Williamson and Taylor duly do knock three singles each.
That's the 150 up.

Five an over from here would only get them to 250. With this size of boundary, it would give them something to defend.

Can the Kiwis keep wickets in hand and kick on towards 300 from here?
Or is it more of a 260-270 and defend that pitch?
West Indies opener Evin Lewis is unlikely to return to field in this innings after injuring his hamstring and going off in that eventful first over.
That means Lewis will likely not be able to bat higher than seven, so expect Shai Hope to move up to partner Chris Gayle.

If you hit the ball over a fielder in the circle, there's always a chance of a boundary - as you very rarely get a fielder behind another one.
And Kane Williamson greets the returning Oshane Thomas by punching on the up over the covers for four.

If Williamson gets going, he's hard to stop as he's got so many shots.
It'll be interesting to see if they bring in Tom Latham, who's more of a manipulator, at five, or push Jimmy Neesham up who's more powerful. There's an element of freedom about those middle-order positions.
Ross Taylor taps round the corner and sets off for a risky single.
Or maybe not so risky, given how slowly Oshane Thomas gets down to it before hurtling his throw miles away from the stumps, meaning Chris Gayle has to field it backing up in the covers. Big man to big man, neither with much mobility.
It's hopefully warmed Thomas up a bit, though. He's coming back into the attack.

How West Indies would like a short, sharp barrage from Dre Russ now.

New Zealand have had to reduce the level of risks in their shot-making. It takes time on pitches like this until you get the measure of them.
This is a relatively large ground in terms of English dimensions - somewhat larger than, say, Taunton. And this innings is rather emerging from the caterpillar stage.
Shot of the day! Sheldon Cottrell strays full and Kane Williamson walks into a silky smooth on drive, caressing it away for four.
