If New Zealand can keep their net run-rate going - and I don't quite know how they are calculated! - but it took to the 50th over here, so I don't think it will be markedly affected. If they can play well against one of those two sides, it will do them a great deal of confidence. If they can compete well, if they get through, they'll get a lot out of that.

The amount of stress Mickey Arthur has had to put up with - he's lost more and more weight as the tournament has gone on! Being Pakistan coach is the best weight loss routine in the world. There were holes in that performance against South Africa, everyone highlight the seven dropped catches. They had to be more comprehensive today in the way they approached this chase. They were very, very much in control.

236 you thought maybe, 25% chance you might win. But I think New Zealand's selection policy was just a wee bit exposed. If they'd had another spinner, perhaps it might have been and that was exacerbated when Williamson himself had to come on and bowl eight overs. Even he got a wicket!

  4. 'We were outplayed'published at 19:41 British Summer Time 26 June 2019

New Zealand captain Kane WIlliamson: "The surfaces in the last three games have been difficult and we were outplayed on a tough surface by a strong side.

"There was more bounce than we expected, they put the ball in the right areas. The fight we showed in the back end was outstanding and we were in a competitive position. We were right in it but their batsmen played beautifully well and took the game away from us.

"There are so many games in the round robin you can't win them all."

I can't stress this enough - you don't see Pakistan chase in a competent way as much as you would like!

I thought Pakistan thoroughly deserved their win today. Their bowling set it up - Shaheen Afridi was outstanding and really set the tone for the innings.

Iljas Najib: Only Pakistan can beat New Zealand in that manner and at the same time give sleepiness nights to every single England fan in the country. My word this World Cup is amazing!

Jamie Phillips: That's a big win for Pakistan. Keeps their semi-final hopes alive and heaps more pressure on England. I don't fancy their chances against India at Edgbaston

This was the performance Pakistani fans were waiting for. A convincing chase that showed spine, that showed fight, that showed intent and skill. They did all of those things today. You don't associate Pakistan with great chases.

Just a reminder that England have to play India and New Zealand.

Bangladesh have to play India and Pakistan.

Pakistan have to play Afghanistan and Bangladesh.

Sri Lanka have to play South Africa, West Indies and India.

Man of the match Babar Azam: "The wicket was difficult but my aim was to bat for 50 overs and if I did I knew Pakistan would win the match.

"We know we'd need to score runs off the pace bowlers. Once Santner came on it was doing stuff off the pitch so Hafeez told me to stick at it and score three or four runs an over."

We have Australia on 12 points from 7, NZ 11 from 7, India 9 from 5, England 8 from 7, Bangladesh and Pakistan on 7 from 7. This result has made it more likely that England will need two wins to go through.
