I can't stop thinking about that Mitchell Starc delivery to get rid of Ben Stokes yesterday.

We have heard rumours there might be a toss round about 11:30 - with maybe a 12 o'clock start - but we have not had that confirmed.

I mean, to me, Edgbaston looks... fine, to play on? A bit grim, maybe, but it looks alright.

Trent Boult was having a chat with Wasim Akram this morning. Lots of gesticulation and swinging ball motions going on.

England, who were the pre-tournament favourites, now have two matches remaining and must win both - against the tournament's only two unbeaten teams, India and New Zealand - to guarantee qualification.

They stay fourth in the table, with the top four teams progressing, but can be overtaken by Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

England made a bit of a mess of their semi-final hopes by going down to a 64-run defeat by Australia at Lord's.

England, chasing 286, were 20-3 at one point and were ultimately bowled out for 221, with Mitch Starc taking 4-43 and Jason Behrendorff 5-44.

Now, it doesn't mean England's World Cup is over. Far from it. It just means it's more of a nervous run than they were anticipating.

Pakistan, meanwhile, have had an up and down tournament.

They beat England, were thrashed by West Indies, lost to India and then beat South Africa to keep themselves in the semi-final hunt.

They'll need to win all three matches, probably - and they face Afghanistan and Bangladesh next.

A win will guarantee New Zealand a place in semis.

They came through a nerve shredder against West Indies last weekend at Old Trafford, with Carlos Brathwaite holing out going for the six his side needed to win.

New Zealand are top of the table but they haven't had that one complete performance, with the batting and bowling yet to click together.

Will it fall into place today?

So New Zealand - unbeaten, bidding to go top of the table, have come through two thrillers recently - take on Pakistan at Edgbaston, the scene of their Champions Trophy triumph two years ago.

A New Zealand win is good for England. A Pakistan win will have them nipping at England's heels.

    Hello!

The good news is: it's not raining.

The bad news is: it rained last night. A lot. And we've got a greasy - great word - outfield.

We'll have an inspection at 10:30 BST.
