  1. NZ 92-2published at 25 overs

    Target 244

Maxwell tosses one up and Williamson hits it wide of mid off for a sweetly-struck four.

And with that, I'll hand over. Matt Henry has been pawing the ground impatiently at the end of his long run, and he's all set to dish out the chin music for the final 25 overs of the game.

    Here he is.

Anything that has been too full the batsmen have been able to hit through the line. That was a half-volley.

  3. NZ 85-2published at 24 overs

    Williamson 31, Taylor 18

    Hang on a sec!

Kane Williamson hoicks Stoinis into the stands high over mid-wicket for the first six of the day! We needed that!

  4. NZ 77-2published at 23 overs

    Target 244

A third different bowler at the Nursery End in as many overs there, with Glenn Maxwell replacing Aaron Finch with his off-breaks.

No alarms for either batsman as they take a comfortable four from that over.

  5. NZ 73-2published at 22 overs

    Target 244

Marcus Stoinis replaces Jason Behrendorff with his brisk seamers at the Pavilion End.

It's got the feel of a Lord's one-day final of a different era - less than five an over as a target, batsmen knocking it around.

Nothing wrong with that though, is there?

Really not sure what to make of all this at present with runs at a premium for New Zealand as Taylor and Williamson play watchful hands.

The crowd don't seem too pleased either as there is a noticeable lull around the ground as the shadows lengthen.

Glancing at the baseball action on another screen that's currently taking place at London Stadium between the Yankees and the Red Sox, it seems the run-scoring is quicker there than it is here!

It is all well and good playing this waiting game but you have to remember Australia have Mitchell Starc.

That is the first boundary since the first ball of the 12th over.

  9. NZ 68-2published at 21 overs

    Williamson 19, Taylor 14

Just the one over from Steve Smith, but here's another part-time spinner in Aaron Finch with his left-arm slowies.

Taylor latches on to a leg side full toss and sweeps for a rare boundary.

  10. NZ 61-2published at 20 overs

    Target 244

Taylor is rapped on the front pad and there's an appeal that umpire Wilson turns down. Then comes the added drama of the 'Will they? Won't they?' review option countdown.

And the answer is - they won't. Looked to be heading down leg side.

  11. NZ 60-2published at 19:05 British Summer Time 29 June 2019

    Target 244

Jason Behrendorff sends down two wides early on in his latest over, his ninth. Is Aaron Finch going to bowl the left-armer right through?

Steve Smith last bowled in an ODI in January 2016 - 46 games ago.

  13. NZ 57-2published at 19 overs

    Target 244

Smith has replaced Lyon, and his first over is a mixture of decent turning deliveries, long hops and full tosses that concedes four runs in singles.

  14. How's stat?!published at 19:00 British Summer Time 29 June 2019

That is Carey's fourth drop of the tournament - a joint-high number.

  15. NZ 53-2published at 18 overs

    Target 244

Lord's is alive with noise at last. Why?

Because Steve Smith is bowling his leggies!

  16. dropped catch

Williamson dropped on 15published at 18:59 British Summer Time 29 June 2019

Williamson slashes at Behrendorff outside off, Carey dives to his right and gets a fingertip to it, but the Australia keeper cannot hold a difficult chance.

  18. NZ 49-2published at 17 overs

    Target 244

Lyon rips one past Taylor's outside edge, and Carey makes to stump the batsman although he's still in his ground.

It's not quite happening for either batsman yet, but there's plenty of time. Forget the predicted big totals - this World Cup is seeing lots of edgy run chases for low-ish targets.

I am not saying it will be on New Zealand's mind yet but there is a net run-rate aspect to this. If New Zealand are going to lose they have to bat deep and bat their 50 overs just in case.

  20. Postpublished at 18:52 British Summer Time 29 June 2019

Jason Behrendorff nailed Martin Guptill in front for his second wicket of the day.
