Nicholls was a little late on the ball. He caught up with the ball as it went past him.

    Nicholls c Carey b Behrendorff 8 (NZ 29-1)

A first sign of aggression for a while, and it brings about Nicholls' downfall!

The left-hander tries to pull a Behrendorff short one, but feathers an edge through to Carey for a dismissal you can find in the file marked 'soft'.

  3. NZ 29-0published at 9 overs

    Target 244

Cummins has been impressive since his early introduction from the Nursery End, and he sends down a maiden to keep New Zealand pegged back.

Better start to their innings for New Zealand - their last five opening partnerships have been 0 from one ball, 12, 0 from one ball and 5.

  5. NZ 29-0published at 8 overs

    Target 244

Jason Behrendorff is back on for Starc, and his first ball strikes Guptill on the front pad to bring an appeal from the bowler.

It's turned down by umpire Illingworth, and Australia decide not to review. It's a good decision, as replays show it was not hitting enough of leg stump to have overturned the decision, so it stays as umpire's call.

  6. NZ 28-0published at 7 overs

    Target 244

A tight over from Pat Cummins with a single off the first and nothing else.

Paul Rosenberg: She's been admitted to the hospital for a couple of days. It's a gastro bug due to her scavenging ways at our park and the amount of litter left there. It happens every year so we're use to it. Thanks for the concerns!

Paul was at Lord's but had to leave after 20 minutes to take care of his poorly dog. He hasn't given us a name yet, though...?

  8. NZ 27-0published at 6 overs

    Guptill 15, Nicholls 8

All a bit 'mehh' so far from Australia, New Zealand's openers look untroubled.

  9. Postpublished at 18:00 British Summer Time 29 June 2019

The Black Caps' opener gets the run chase on its way...

  10. NZ 26-0published at 5.2 overs

    Target 244

Nice from Nicholls as he gets off the mark - he pushes Starc back down the ground between Guptill's body and his bat for four of the first ball.

Then he nudges the next past square leg and to the rope in front of the Grandstand.

  11. NZ 18-0published at 5 overs

    Guptill 15, Nicholls 0

A beauty from Cummins keeps Guptill honest - it lifts off a good length, moves down the slope a touch and flies through to Carey.

  12. Pakistan sneak home against Afghanistanpublished at 17:56 British Summer Time 29 June 2019

Pakistan have got there with two balls to spare, beating Afghanistan by three wickets.

Afghanistan captain Gulbadin Naib brought himself on for the final over, having been smashed for 18 in his previous over.

    Perhaps not a great idea.

And that means Pakistan have gone ahead of England into fourth place in the table.

  13. NZ 18-0published at 4.1 overs

    Target 244

Pat Cummins is on in place of Behrendorff after just two overs, and his first is flicked off his hip by Guptill and down for four in front of the pavilion.

I have to confess that quite a lot of the members of the written press (myself included) currently have our eyes on another game....

  15. NZ 14-0published at 4 overs

    Guptill 11, Nicholls 0

Starc's radar is not quite on as he sends one down leg side for a wide, then plays safe by sending the next outside off. Plenty of bounce though, as Carey takes them both head-high.

  16. Final-over thriller between Pakistan and Afghanistanpublished at 17:48 British Summer Time 29 June 2019

Right, it's down to the final over at Headingley and Pakistan need six runs from six balls to beat Afghanistan with three wickets in hand.

They're 222-7, chasing 228. Follow the climax here.

    Afghanistan can't, can they?

  17. NZ 12-0published at 3 overs

    Target 244

Starc races around the third man boundary to slide in and cut the ball off and keep New Zealand down to two.

Behrendorff gives Guptill a bit of width outside off, and the opener drives it past point down the slope and to the shortest boundary.

Nicholls is still on nought, by the way.

New Zealand have lost 10 wickets in last six matches in the opening powerplay.

I think this pitch is a Kane Williamson special. It is set-up for one of his dogged hundreds.

  20. NZ 2-0published at 2 overs

    Guptill 2, Nicholls 0

Guptill dabs one down in front of the slips and the openers nip through for a well-taken single.
