Steve Smith might have to gamble soon and start hitting it. Australia could lose three quick wickets and leave him stranded.

Mitchell Starc gets a ripper first up from Adil Rashid. Sensational bowling.

This is great captaincy from Eoin Morgan, putting the slip in for Pat Cummins.

A bit of fortune for Joe Root - it just about stuck!

    Cummins c Root b Rashid 6 (Aus 166-7)

Outstanding from England! Adil Rashid finds Pat Cummins' edge with another googly. The ball goes quickly to Joe Root at slip and somehow he clings on. The beaming face of Root tells me there might have been a bit of luck involved but he doesn't care.

England are right on it. The Aussies only have three wickets left.

  6. Aus 166-6published at 37.2 overs

Score predictor now says 229. Would you be confident with England chasing that?

Adil Rashid will continue for his final over. He has 2-53 so far.

  9. Aus 163-6published at 36.5 overs

And again. Jofra Archer can't get to the catch but he is testing Cummins out.

  10. Aus 163-6published at 36.3 overs

Catch! Was that another slower ball from Archer? Pat Cummins almost chips one back to him. Just short.

Any total is challenging in a World Cup semi-final. England have to keep hunting wickets and try to bowl Australia out for 200 if they can.

Good fielding from Joe Root keeps Pat Cummins on strike. Archer is going to continue as a result.

It was a knuckle ball from Jofra Archer but it would've looked to Glenn Maxwell like the stock ball.

  15. Aus 161-6published at 35.5 overs

Steve Smith is always animated but he was shaking his head in disgust at the pitch after that Maxwell wicket. I think it was a good knuckle ball from Archer. There shouldn't be too much to panic England.

  16. Aus 157-6published at 35 overs

    Smith 65, Cummins 0

Jofra Archer just takes wickets. Crucial. It was definitely a slower ball looking back at the replay. A clever one that was hard to pick.

Pat Cummins is the new batsman. He's a decent bat but nothing more. England will be sensing the chance of bowling the Aussies out.

England will be hoping that was down to the slower ball and not the pitch breaking up. They could do without that!

Maxwell thinks he's been betrayed by the pitch. But it was a slower ball - Archer held it back.

    WICKETpublished at 34.5 overs

    Maxwell c Morgan b Archer 22 (Aus 157-6)

    Maxwell gone! Big, big wicket.

Was it a slower ball from Archer? I'm not sure. Glenn Maxwell was way too early on the shot and just lobbed it to extra cover.

Both Maxwell and Smith stare down at the pitch with a lot of suspicion.

  20. Aus 156-5published at 34.4 overs

This might be the last of Archer in this spell. He'll have two left after this one and Morgan might save him.

Steve Smith will have faced him a lot in the nets in the IPL, they were team-mates. Smith looks comfortable.

Archer is trying the short stuff but twice his bouncers are deemed too high and a wide is called.
