    WICKET: Kohler-Cadmore c Coughlin b Broad 22published at 17:33 British Summer Time 6 April 2019

    Notts 408 v Yorkshire 194-4

Caught this time in the deep by Coughlin, who had only just returned to the field having needed treatment following his attempt to catch Joe Root minutes earlier.

It's not particularly clever from Kohler-Cadmore, who had seen Joe Root narrowly escape the same trap in Broad's last over.

Broad's second wicket brings Jack Leaning to the crease.

  2. Division Two round-uppublished at 17:30 British Summer Time 6 April 2019

Having been dropped on 11 by Alex Lees, Derbyshire's Wayne Madsen has now gone for 30, superbly caught by the same Durham fielder at second slip. The home side are 83-3, 109 runs to the good.

Stiaan van Zyl and Luke Wells are on the verge of a 50 partnership for Sussex, who lead Leicestershire by 106 with eight second wickets standing at Hove.

Northants have claimed the wicket of Eoin Morgan for 25, leaving Middlesex on 130-6, still 315 behind. The England one-day skipper was taken at third slip off Nathan Buck.

  3. dropped catch

Root dropped on 45published at 17:27 British Summer Time 6 April 2019

    Notts 408 v Yorkshire 191-3

I'm a cruel, cruel man for using the dropped catch graphic...

Joe Root attempts to pull Stuart Broad, but doesn't get hold of it. Paul Coughlin, fielding ten yards in from the fence, dives forward but can only get his fingertips to the ball. It was a superb effort, really, from the Nottinghamshire man.

Two lives, now, for Root, who eventually comes through for a single.

  4. Sound start by Kentpublished at 17:20 British Summer Time 6 April 2019

    Somerset 171 v Kent 26-0

Kent openers Sean Dickson and Zak Crawley certainly aren't exhibiting any concerns about the pitch at Taunton, despite Somerset's low first-innings total. Dickson strokes the final ball of Lewis Gregory's fourth over through mid-off for four to move to 14 not out, with partner Crawley on 12.

  5. Notts search for breakthroughpublished at 17:15 British Summer Time 6 April 2019

    Notts 408 v Yorkshire 180-3

This is a good batting deck, but you do get the very occasional delivery that stays deceptively low, such as the one Jake Ball just sent down to Joe Root. Luckily for the batsman, it was wide of off-stump, and Root actually got four from it, courtesy of a bottom-edge through the slips.

At the other end, Tom Kohler-Cadmore top edges an attempted pull shot just beyond the reach of Nottinghamshire 'keeper Tom Moores.

The scoreboard is ticking over again, but the bowling side will feel they're in the game.

  6. No sign of Essex resumptionpublished at 17:12 British Summer Time 6 April 2019

    Hampshire 525-8 dec v Essex 25-1

It's not looking good at the Ageas Bowl where the groundstaff have now brought out the covers.

Are we going to see any more cricket today? It's looking unlikely at the moment.

  7. Middlesex in follow-on dangerpublished at 17:09 British Summer Time 6 April 2019

    Northamptonshire 445 v Middlesex 112-5

    Alex Winter
    BBC Radio Northampton sport

Floodlights on at Wantage Road and Northants continuing to pile on the pressure - getting Middlesex captain Dawid Malan in the second over after tea and now Max Holden too, their saviour last season.

Northants have won every session of this match so far and are on their way to winning this one too. If they do so, Middlesex could face the prospect of being asked to follow-on, as they were here last season.

    It remains breezy and chilly.

  8. Nervy start by Brookspublished at 17:02 British Summer Time 6 April 2019

    Somerset 171 v Kent 9-0

After a maiden over by Lewis Gregory, Jack Brooks is given his first chance with the ball for Somerset.

It's an inauspicious start as Sean Dickson puts a full toss away down the ground and then off drives the next for another four.

  9. Evenly poised at Trent Bridgepublished at 17:02 British Summer Time 6 April 2019

    Notts 408 v Yorkshire 159-3

Stuart Broad has beaten Joe Root's outside edge a few times, but now Root hits back with a back-foot drive to the boundary.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore also reaches the boundary with a drive down the ground. He didn't quite time that, but four runs are four runs.

Suddenly, it feels like the game is a little bit in the balance at Trent Bridge. Another wicket and you'd say Nottinghamshire were on top. Yorkshire are 245 runs behind.

  10. Division Two round-uppublished at 16:55 British Summer Time 6 April 2019

Phil Salt was in great touch for Sussex, making 80 off 67 balls, but now he's gone, caught and bowled by Leicestershire's Colin Ackermann. The hosts are 153-2, a lead of 74.

Loan signing Luke Wood has his first wicket for Northamptonshire and it's a big one, with Dawid Malan edging to the keeper for 19. England one-day skipper Eoin Morgan is now at the crease with Middlesex 98-4, 347 in arrears.

No breakthrough since tea for Durham at Derby, where the home side have advanced to 56-2 in their second innings, with Wayne Madsen and Tom Lace together, 82 runs ahead.

  11. wicket

WICKET: Lyth c Fletcher b Ball 81published at 16:51 British Summer Time 6 April 2019

    Notts 408 v Yorkshire 153-3

There will be no century for Adam Lyth today.

The opener, who has played brilliantly, mistimes a drive straight into the bucket-hands of Luke Fletcher at mid-off. Lyth will be really disappointed with that. The ball seemed there to be hit.

That's a bonus point for Nottinghamshire. Tom Kohler-Cadmore joins Joe Root at the crease for Yorkshire.

  12. Teams off again at the Bowlpublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 6 April 2019

    Hampshire 525-8 dec v Essex 25-1

Umpires Neil Mallender and Martin SaggersImage source, Rex Features

And they're off again at the Ageas Bowl after just two deliveries. Tom Westley takes a single from the first to move to seven not out, and Alastair Cook remains on 17.

A further 32 overs are scheduled today, but that looks very unlikely now.

  13. Broad probing at Trent Bridgepublished at 16:48 British Summer Time 6 April 2019

    Notts 408 v Yorkshire 150-2

More good work from Adam Lyth, who rolls his wrists to pull Jake Ball to the boundary. The Whitby man moves on to 80.

Stuart Broad then comes very close to taking Joe Root's wicket! It nipped in but somehow missed everything.

Close again! Shorter this time, and Root dangles his bat out, almost nicking it.

Over in Wales, Joe's brother Billy has scored an unbeaten century for Glamorgan against Cardiff MCUU.

  14. wicket

    WICKET C Overton c and b Podmore 14published at 16:46 British Summer Time 6 April 2019

    Somerset 171 v Kent

Harry Podmore sprawls to take a return catch from a leading edge by Craig Overton and Somerset's first innings comes to an end after just 48 overs.

Mitch Claydon finishes with 5-46 and Matt Milnes also looked impressive on his Kent debut, returning 3-40.

  15. Essex set to resumepublished at 16:44 British Summer Time 6 April 2019

    Hampshire 525-8 dec v Essex 24-1

Better news from the Ageas Bowl, where play will resume at 16:45 BST, providing the light doesn't deteriorate again. Alastair Cook is 17 not out for Essex, with Tom Westley on six.

  16. for Mitch Claydonpublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 6 April 2019

    Somerset 165-9 v Kent

Craig Overton slices a less than convincing boundary, but two balls later Josh Davey is strangled down the leg-side as Mitch Claydon digs one in at his body.

That's the ninth five-for of 36-year-old Claydon's career and promoted Kent are finding life back in the top flight much to their liking.

  17. Broad into the attackpublished at 16:34 British Summer Time 6 April 2019

    Notts 408 v Yorkshire 140-2

The evening session picks up where the afternoon session left off for Yorkshire, i.e. with Adam Lyth driving down the ground for runs. Excellent work by Luke Fletcher in the deep prevents the boundary.

Stuart Broad is into the attack at the other end, with Lyth on strike.

  18. Evenly poised at Derbypublished at 16:31 British Summer Time 6 April 2019

    Derbyshire 197 & 45-2 v Durham 171

Barring bad weather, it certainly isn't going to be a draw at Derby.

Here are the tea-time thoughts on the state of play of BBC Newcastle's Martin Emmerson.

  19. Tea at Trent Bridgepublished at 16:18 British Summer Time 6 April 2019

    Notts 408 v Yorkshire 137-2

Only one run from Samit Patel's third over, and that's tea.

It's been a decent session for Yorkshire, who have scored 129 runs for the loss of two wickets on a good batting pitch. Opener Harry Brook was the first to go, hitting a fluent 30 before being trapped lbw by Stuart Broad. Gary Ballance (7) then spent 51 minutes at the crease but never quite settled, eventually losing his off-stump to a Luke Fletcher delivery.

Since then, England captain Joe Root (26*) and the excellent Adam Lyth (71*) have added 57 runs to the total. Nottinghamshire may live to regret dropping Root in the slips whilst he was still in single figures.

Lyth will look to kick on and reach his century after tea, whilst the stage is set for Stuart Broad to bowl at England teammate Root in the evening session.

  20. wicket

WICKET Abell c Milnes b Claydon 49published at 16:18 British Summer Time 6 April 2019

    Somerset 145-8 v Kent

Two wickets in successive overs for Kent.

It's another unnecessary downfall as Lewis Gregory is tempted into a drive by Matt Milnes and edges to slip, departing for four.

Then Milnes is the catcher at fine leg as Tom Abell miscues a hook shot off Mitch Claydon and deprives himself of a fifty - with Claydon's figures now 4-30.

Craig Overton and Josh Davey are together in the middle, with only Jack Brooks to come. Somerset can expect to feel the rough edge of Brian the Taunton cat's tongue after this effort.
