A much-needed breakthrough for Yorkshire as Duanne Olivier goes around the wicket to Ben Duckett and successfully cramps him up.

The Nottinghamshire batsman tentatively prods at a back-of-a-length delivery and second slip Adam Lyth takes a smart catch.

An attractive knock of 61 from Duckett from just 69 balls, but having made 43 first time around he'll no doubt be frustrated not to kick on in successive innings.

    What do elite sportsmen eat?

Here's a pic from earlier today of Notts batsman Chris Nash's breakfast of choice.

    Mmmm, tasty.

'Dazzler' strikes again as he nibbles one away from James Hildreth and keeper Ollie Robinson accepts a thin edge moving to his right. Somerset's two most experienced batsmen are back in the pavilion and Kent are all over the home team like flies.

  4. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 7 April 2019

    Notts 408 & 87-1 v Yorkshire 291

A huge opportunity goes by for Yorkshire as wicketkeeper Jonny Tattersall drops Ben Duckett on 57 off the bowling of Joe Root.

It's not an easy chance by any means, as the Notts batsman square cuts and gets an under edge, but it's one Tattersall should take.

Root rubs his face, grabs his hat and trudges off in disappointment.

  5. wicket

WICKET Trescothick lbw Stevens 5published at 14:46 British Summer Time 7 April 2019

    Somerset 171 & 5-1 v Kent 209

Darren Stevens will catch up with Marcus Trescothick when he reaches his 43rd birthday on 30 April, and he gets the better of him here with a straight one, which the left-hander tries to play to leg - but misses. Just 15 runs in the game for Tresco.

  6. 50 runs

for Ben Duckettpublished at 14:41 British Summer Time 7 April 2019

    Notts 408 & 86-1 v Yorkshire 291

Nottinghamshire's Ben Duckett goes to his half-century from just 52 balls with a crisply hit reverse-sweep off the bowling of Joe Root.

Quite bizarrely, the England captain responds a couple of balls later with a bouncer! Yes, a bouncer from an off-spinner! Duckett swipes it away and gets three runs via a misfield anyhow.

He really is taking the game away with this knock - 56 not out from just 54 balls - and doing it with a lot more exuberance than his celebration.

  7. Deja vu at Wantage Road?published at 14:40 British Summer Time 7 April 2019

    Northamptonshire 445 v Middlesex 271 & 10-2

    Alex Winter
    BBC Radio Northampton sport

Sense of deja vu here after Northamptonshire forced Middlesex to follow-on, as they did in this fixture last year.

They have done so with a very similar lead - 174 here, 159 last year - and the visitors will have hope of mounting another famous fightback, having won this game in 2018 despite being seven down following-on and still behind.

The difference here is less time is left in the game and they have already lost Nick Gubbins and Stevie Eskianzi to Nathan Buck

The funk that Northants were in during 2018 appears to have been shrugged off, having won all but this morning's session so far in this game.

  8. Second fifty for Hoseinpublished at 14:36 British Summer Time 7 April 2019

    Derbyshire 197 & 223-5 v Durham 171

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Newcastle commentator

For the second time in this game, and the 13th time in his first-class career, Harvey Hosein has reached a half century. His 78 in the first innings helped rescue Derbyshire from 68-5 and they eventually reached 197 and a 26-run lead.

This 50 came from 73 deliveries with eight fours, but having used the heavy roller ahead of this second innings, conditions seems more batsman-friendly.

The last three partnerships have been 83, 66 and 61.

  9. No treble for Fidelpublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 7 April 2019

    Hampshire 525-8 dec v Essex 123-6

There is no hat-trick for Fidel Edwards as Ravi Bopara blocks the first ball of a new over.

Jamie Porter is the new Essex batsman after Edwards removed Ryan ten Doeschate and Simon Harmer, but they are heading for follow-on central and will do well to find their way to the teatime buffet car before they reach it.

  10. Root on for Yorkshirepublished at 14:32 British Summer Time 7 April 2019

    Notts 408 & 71-1 v Yorkshire 291

England captain Joe Root is going to have a go with his part-time off-break now as Yorkshire search for a breakthrough.

It was the spin of Samit Patel that swung this match heavily in Nottinghamshire's favour this morning with three quickfire wickets.

Root was frugal in the first innings - 0-27 from 12 overs - but wasn't a major threat.

WICKET Milnes c Davies b Abell 5published at 14:30 British Summer Time 7 April 2019

    Somerset 171 v Kent 209

So Kent are restricted to a 38-run lead on first innings as Tom Abell has Matt Milnes caught behind with a pearler which leaves him late and takes the edge.

They managed to eke out a solitary batting point, but Somerset will be happy with the way things have gone after taking the last eight Kent wickets today for 125 runs.

    Hampshire 525-8 dec v Essex 122-6

    Fidel EdwardsImage source, Rex Features

Fidel Edwards will be on a hat-trick in his next over after removing Ryan ten Doeschate and Simon Harmer with successive deliveries at the Ageas Bowl.

Ten Doeschate plays around a slower ball and is lbw and the next one is a rapid full length delivery which extracts Harmer's middle and off stumps.

  13. Division Two round-uppublished at 14:27 British Summer Time 7 April 2019

Leicestershire have made a solid start to their second innings at Hove, having been set a victory target of 230 by Sussex. They are 26-0 with openers Paul Horton and Ateeq Javid still together.

Middlesex have followed on against Northants and are 10-0, needing another 164 to avoid an innings defeat.

Harvey Hosein has just reached his second half-century of the game for Derbyshire against Durham, with the home side now 222-5, a lead of 248.

  14. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 14:26 British Summer Time 7 April 2019

    Notts 408 & 69-1 v Yorkshire 291

"Dropped catch" is pushing it. More like half a chance for Yorkshire's Adam Lyth at slip, but it's Ben Duckett so it could prove to be crucial.

The Nottinghamshire batsman slashes hard at a Steve Patterson delivery from around the wicket. He gets just enough on it so Lyth can only get touch the ball over the crossbar and down to the third man boundary.

    Fine margins.

  15. wicket

WICKET Robinson c Byrom b Brooks 13published at 14:20 British Summer Time 7 April 2019

    Somerset 171 v Kent 197-9

Jack Brooks was a prolific wicket-taker for Yorkshire over several seasons, and there's his first in the Championship for new county Somerset as Ollie Robinson gets himself in a tangle and chips to mid-wicket.

Brooks is understandably delighted, but less so when new batsman Mitch Claydon clips his next delivery away for four.

  16. Essex look to experienced pairpublished at 14:20 British Summer Time 7 April 2019

    Hampshire 525-8 dec v Essex 119-4

Two trusty stalwarts are together for Essex at the Ageas Bowl, with skipper Ryan ten Doeschate having joined Ravi Bopara after lunch.

Batting, though, is not proving any easier with Fidel Edwards and Kyle Abbott probing away in search of further success for Hampshire in their differing styles.

Bopara nudges past the slips for four off Abbott in the latest over but they are still over 400 behind.

  17. Notts' lead races passes 150published at 14:18 British Summer Time 7 April 2019

    Notts 408 & 51-1 v Yorkshire 291

Yorkshire captain Steven Patterson drags one down and Ben Duckett obliges with a cut backward of square that rattles its way to the ropes.

Neither Patterson or Ben Coad look like getting a breakthrough here, with Duckett in total control.

As I was about to click SEND, Chris Nash edges one from Coad but it's short of slip. He'd been content to dead-bat lots of what has been sent down since lunch.

Nottinghamshire now lead by 168 runs. Yorkshire will know they need wickets because Duckett could quickly take the game away from them.

We asked you to suggest a common noun for wicketkeepers, with six involved so far in the game between Hampshire and Essex. Here are some early suggestions.

from @JavaOrc: "The common noun for wicketkeepers has to be a castle of wicketkeepers. #bbccricket, external."

    from MxEmJackson1: "#bbccricket, external - a Gilchrist of good batter-wicketkeepers."

from @BHG86: "How about a cross of wicketkeepers? Matches the symbol #bbccricket, external."

from @trypewriter01: "#bbccricket, external collective noun for wicketkeepers - can't make my mind up between a crouch or a clutch..."

    Somerset 171 v Kent 187-8

Four slips are in place as Craig Overton charges in to bowl to Darren Stevens, who jabs uncertainly at the ball and gives the third of them - Lewis Gregory - a comfortable chance.

Matt Milnes is the new Kent batsman, and barring a tail-end surprise, this looks like being pretty much even stevens (sorry, Darren) on first innings.

  20. for Nathan Buckpublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 7 April 2019

    Northamptonshire 445 v Middlesex 271

An uncomfortable start to the summer for Middlesex, who have been asked to follow-on by Northants at Wantage Road.

James Harris ran out of partners on 61 when Nathan Buck had last man Tim Murtagh caught slogging at mid-off, giving the paceman figures of 5-54.

The Northants lead is 174 as Nick Gubbins and Sam Robson come out to begin Middlesex's second innings.
