  4. Batting day at the Ageas Bowlpublished at 12:37 British Summer Time 11 April 2019

    Yorkshire 89-1 v Hampshire

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

Lyth and BallanceImage source, Rex Features

With the sun out and a good looking pitch, this looks to be a very good day to bat.

The toss was always going to be crucial and by calling correctly, Yorkshire already look to have gained an advantage.

The one solitary wicket taken so far (Harry Brook, bowled) has come via a big inside edge.

This already looks to be a long day (and maybe more) in the field for Hampshire

  5. 6 runs

Mullaney punishes Brookspublished at 12:35 British Summer Time 11 April 2019

    Notts 95-3 v Somerset

Ooh! Too short from Jack Brooks and Mullaney pulls that away in the direction of St John's Wood tube.

Doesn't go quite as far as that, but a maximum nonetheless.

  6. 50 runs

50 for Adam Lythpublished at 12:31 British Summer Time 11 April 2019

    Yorkshire 86-1 v Hampshire

    LythImage source, Rex Features

Half-century time for Adam Lyth as his impressive morning continues.

A little tickle off his hip from Keith Barker takes the left-hander to his landmark from 68 balls with 10 fours.

He and Gary Ballance have now added 65 for the second wicket since Harry Brook departed earlier.

  7. Gubbins and Eskinazi battle at Lord'spublished at 12:31 British Summer Time 11 April 2019

    Maiden over from Tom Bailey.

Graham Onions bowls gun barrel straight and Nick Gubbins defends.

Big appeal for caught behind off the third ball but the batsman survives.

Middlesex clawing back some momentum after the loss of Robson, but it's tough going at HQ so far.

  8. Warwickshire put to the swordpublished at 12:25 British Summer Time 11 April 2019

    Warwks v Kent 69-0

    CrawleyImage source, Rex Features

Sean Dickson is looking solid here, as he pounces on the width on offer from Tom Milnes to pick up his third four with a textbook off drive.

He's on 24 now and Zak Crawley has 40.

    Notts 79-3 v Somerset

Josh Davey is back in the attack with 1 for 12 to his name.

The fourth ball bounces off a length and whistles past the outside edge of Chris Nash's bat.

The sixth ball is short and clubbed away through mid-wicket for a single, taking Nash to a fluent 44 off 49 balls to date.

  10. wicket

WICKET Burns c White b Porter 31published at 12:18 British Summer Time 11 April 2019

    Surrey 75-1 v Essex

    Jamie PorterImage source, Rex Features

    Breakthrough for Essex at last.

Rory Burns gets an absolute beauty from Jamie Porter that squares him up and gets a fine outside edge through to wicketkeeper Robbie White.

Relief for Essex as the drop on 23 by Dan Lawrence thankfully proves not too costly.

Ryan Patel in at three for the hosts.

  11. Somerset in control at Trent Bridgepublished at 12:11 British Summer Time 11 April 2019

    Notts 75-3 v Somerset

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

Somerset have enjoyed the better of the opening exchanges against Notts at Trent Bridge.

The visitors opted to bowl first and had an immediate reward as Ben Duckett fell before a run had been scored, pinned lbw by Jack Brooks.

Ben Slater and Chris Nash seized the momentum with a quick-fire partnership of 51 but then Somerset struck twice.

Josh Davey replaced Brooks in the attack and had Slater nibbling behind for 24 and then Joe Clarke, who had scored of 112 and 97 not out last week, nicked Lewis Gregory to the keeper for 2.

  12. Kent in charge at Edgbastonpublished at 12:08 British Summer Time 11 April 2019

    Warwks v Kent 50-0

More "hit me" balls on offer at Edgbaston, this time courtesy of Tom Milnes, who strays into the pads and Zak Crawley taps the ball through square leg for four more.

    That's the innings 50 off 98 balls.

  13. Gubbins and Eskinazi rebuild at Lord'spublished at 12:06 British Summer Time 11 April 2019

    Middx 56-1 v Lancs

Ooh! Tom Bailey is getting plenty of zip from the Lord's surface as he gets one to bounce and slant away from Nick Gubbins, who has battled hard for his 26 to date.

Anderson into his ninth over. Muted appeal for a catch down the leg-side but Gubbins is safe and the opener drives the fifth ball through mid-off for four.

  14. Surrey in full controlpublished at 12:03 British Summer Time 11 April 2019

    Surrey 53-0 v Essex

    StonemanImage source, Rex Features

First hour complete at The Oval and there's been little to worry the defending champions after they won the toss and elected to bat.

Rory Burns has survived one chance he edged to the slips, but he and Mark Stoneman have brought up a 50 partnership.

Could be a long day in the field for Essex who are without Ravi Bopara in this game with a late back injury. Rishi Patel comes in to make his County Championship debut.

  15. Elsewhere in Division Two...published at 12:00 British Summer Time 11 April 2019

Aside from Chester-le-Street and Lord's, here's the state of play in our Division Two games so far today:

Daryl Mitchell (21 not out) and Tom Fell (17 not out) have got the Pears off to a solid start at Grace Road, where Worcestershire play Leicestershire.

39-0 for the visitors so far.

Ryan Higgins got an early breakthrough for Gloucestershire, bowling Derbyshire captain Billy Godleman for 7, but Luis Reece and Wayne Madsen have steadied the ship at 39-1.

Glamorgan are 41-1 against Northants at Cardiff, Nick Selman caught by captain Alex Wakely off the bowling of Nathan Buck for 10.

    Durham 17-2 v Sussex

    Lees outImage source, getty

Second early scalp for Sussex as Alex Lees is comprehensively bowled by Mir Hamza, who sends his middle stump spiraling.

Cameron Bancroft at the other end having to play a very watchful innings with just one run to his name so far from 25 balls.

  17. dropped catch

Burns dropped on 23published at 11:49 British Summer Time 11 April 2019

    Surrey 45-0 v Essex

Not much going Essex's way with the ball at The Oval so far and they've just spilled the one chance they've managed to create.

Rory Burns edges Matt Quinn between first and second slip and the diving Dan Lawrence can't cling on to the chance.

    How costly might that prove?

  18. wicket

WICKET Clarke c Davies b Gregory 2published at 11:48 British Summer Time 11 April 2019

    Notts 54-3 v Somerset

    Clarke outImage source, Getty Images

It's all going a bit wrong for the hosts...

A brief innings from Joe Clarke. His fifth ball keeps a bit low, brushes the edge and nibbles through to the keeper.

Lewis Gregory has his first wicket of the game, while Brooks and Davey have one apiece.

Captain's innings needed from Steven Mullaney.

  19. Landmark time for Lythpublished at 11:47 British Summer Time 11 April 2019

    Yorkshire 41-1 v Hampshire

A nice moment for Yorkshire opener Adam Lyth as he crashes a cover drive for four off Kyle Abbott to reach 10,000 first-class career runs.

The former England opener looking to rebuild for the visitors after the early loss of Harry Brook at the Ageas Bowl.

  20. Red Rose keeps it tightpublished at 11:47 British Summer Time 11 April 2019

    Middx 29-1 v Lancs

A tough morning so far for Middlesex, where Gubbins and Eskinazi are digging in after the early loss of Sam Robson.

Six overs for 12 runs plus a wicket for Jimmy Anderson so far.

No freebies from Tom Bailey either, who replaces Graham Onions and starts off with a maiden.
