So the last county final at Lord's for the foreseeable future is over and it's Somerset who are taking away the trophy.

They outplayed Hampshire in all three departments of the game to win by six wickets on what was for them, Lewis Gregory's injury apart, a day to remember.

Somerset lead the Division One table but have the week off, giving Hampshire the chance to banish the blues by replacing them at the top as they head north to take on Yorkshire at Headingley.

"We were obviously short but James Fuller got us up to a score that we thought would be competitive.

"We had to start well but we just didn't quite get it right early on and we were always trying to get back into the game from there."

"It feels great. I've had a tough couple of weeks away from the boys but it's been a great experience coming back in and doing it at Lord's in front of an amazing crowd.

"I started to cramp towards the end but it's a special moment."

Somerset bowler Craig Overton told Sky Sports:

"We've got the knack of taking wickets in the middle.

"It helps with Jamie (Overton) bowling at 90mph, which can rattle a few batsmen, and he made the most of the long boundary today and got a couple of wickets."

Somerset director of cricket Andy Hurry said in the build-up to the One-Day Cup final that his side were capable of a domestic treble this summer.

It was a bold statement of intent, but it's one that should be taken seriously after the way they outplayed Hampshire at Lord's to lift the One-Day Cup.

Somerset's squad has a nice blend of experience and youth and their first trophy for 14 years can only boost their confidence.

Hampshire fans may point to the absence of James Vince and Liam Dawson when looking for reasons for their defeat, and they were certainly a batsman light, but Somerset were worthy winners.

Somerset batsman Peter Trego told Sky Sports:

"It's incredible to see Hildy knock off those runs.

"I've had 10 second places in my career, so to finally be there is absolutely amazing.

"I got 29 more than I thought I was going to get and I reckon I'll drink double that amount of beer tonight."

Somerset hadn't won a trophy since 2005, and hadn't won a final at Lord's for 18 years, but their long wait is over.

James Hildreth greets Fidel Edwards' return with four through a big gap in the off-side, and pulls the next delivery to mid-wicket with the same outcome to bring the scores level.

An easy single and it's game over.

Hildreth finishes with 69 not out from 68 balls, with partner George Bartlett on 14.

James Fuller returns and George Bartlett stretches to clatter a wide loosener for four. Nothing wrong with the rest of the over - but only nine more needed now.

James Hildreth pulls and takes three comfortable runs.

He repeats the stroke later in the over and it's almost his last, but hits the ground just inches in front of Rilee Rossouw at mid-wicket.

A thoroughbred straight drive brings Hildreth four down to the pavilion - and they can surely start filling the trophy with cider now.

Mason Crane finishes his 10 overs with figures of 0-62. A little harsh on the young leg-spinner, perhaps, as he produced one or two threatening deliveries.

James Hildreth straight drives Mason Crane for four and there's a 60-ball half-century. It's been a fine innings - and could become a match-winning one.

Sam Northeast continues to rotate his bowlers in the hope that one of them can somehow prompt the kind of Somerset slump that is their only hope now.

Kyle Abbott has the ball again and it's decent over - but there are no wickets and Somerset move two runs closer to the trophy.

Somerset in absolutely no rush. Mason Crane continues to find turn but they are content just to knock off three singles before George Bartlett eases through the covers for two. Just 31 more needed.

Fidel Edwards is still doing is best to bring the fire and fury as he surges in for his ninth over. George Bartlett misses out on a low full toss at the end of an over which yields three singles.
