"Radio Somerset commentator Stephen Lamb might once again prove a lucky charm for the West Country today.

"He’s only commentated on two finals before - and both were won by the West Country’s ‘other team’ Gloucestershire, their successive C&G Trophy victories over Worcestershire, in 2003 and 2004.

    "He’s hoping to make it a hat-trick."

Hampshire v Somerset (play starts at 11:00 BST)

Hampshire bowler Kyle Abbott has been speaking to BBC Radio Solent after the toss. They will bat first at Lord's.

"It's pretty cool," he said. "The whole Lord's buzz that you hear on TV in Test matches - this is the same sort of thing.

"The boys are quietly confident and quite relaxed this morning, so hopefully we can put some runs on the board and defend like hell."

It's been some season for Somerset.

Sitting pretty at the top of the County Championship, they had to come through two knockout games to reach Lord's.

They were comfortable winners at both Worcestershire and Notts in the play-off game and semi-final after scoring 337 in both.

Bowling first, they'll be hoping to restrict Hampshire to less than that today at Lord's

Hampshire were outstanding in the group stage, winning seven of their eight matches to top the South table.

They thumped Somerset by seven wickets earlier this month after bowling them out for 216 and then chasing down the target inside 32 overs.

In the semi-final, a fourth-wicket stand of 122 between James Vince and Rilee Rossouw helped them recover from 23-3 to beat Lancashire by four wickets with six balls to spare.

But they'll have to do without captain Vince today...

Somerset's last trophy was their Twenty20 Cup triumph in 2005.

But after 14 barren years, director of cricket Andy Hurry believes the County Championship leaders are capable of winning all three domestic crowns this season.

"Our aspirations are to win all three competitions," he said. "Once you win the first trophy you can look to build on that. And on our day we are unbeatable.

"I am convinced that any team who draws us in a knockout competition fears us and I'm sure Hampshire will be feeling that way, even though they are a very good side themselves."

  11. Toss reactionpublished at 10:41 British Summer Time 25 May 2019

Hampshire won toss and will at first

"The wicket looks a little bit dry. We'll look to put a score on the board and hopefully it'll be an imposing one" - Hampshire's Sam Northeast

"We're quite happy to bowl first. Whoever performs best on the day will win" - Somerset's Tom Abell

James Vince and Liam Dawson are both with England and miss out for the holders. Ironically, they've stayed in Southampton for a warm-up match against Australia.

Vince scored 509 runs in seven innings, including a Hampshire record 190 against Gloucestershire, and crucial 79 in the semi-final.

Will his absence prove to be the difference today?

Hampshire: Alsop, Donald, Weatherley, Northeast (capt), Rossouw, Berg, Wood, Fuller, Abbott, Edwards, Crane.

Somerset: Banton, Azhar, Trego, Hildreth, Abell (capt), Bartlett, Gregory, van der Merwe, C Overton, J Overton, Davey.

May has been a month for endings.

We've said goodbye to Game of Thrones and The Big Bang Theory.

Today, it's the last One-Day Cup final at Lord's.

There has been a limited-overs county showpiece at the home of cricket every year since 1963, so let's hope Hampshire and Somerset can serve up an absolute cracker.

Welcome to our coverage. Play starts at 11:00.
