    Weatherley 11 Northeast 7

Lewis Gregory, who has 18 wickets in this season's One-Day Cup, is into the attack at the start of the second powerplay.

Sam Northeast carves him away for a single and Joe Weatherley plays a similar shot for two but Gregory's first over costs just three runs.

    Weatherley 9, Northeast 6

There's a wide down the leg-side in Josh Davey's latest over, but that apart, it's another good one. He has 2-16 from five overs so far.

  5. Hants 37-2 (9 overs)published at 11:36 British Summer Time 25 May 2019

    Weatherley 5, Northeast 5

Two slips in place as Somerset look for another breakthrough.

Sam Northeast takes three from Craig Overton's opening delivery, denied a boundary by more excellent Somerset fielding as Tom Abell dives to prevent it reaching the rope.

"Sadly, it’s a long way short of being full at Lord’s today for the last one-day county final.

"In fact, judging by all the blue India shirts on a packed train down from the Midlands this morning, there will probably be a more of a crowd across the city at The Oval, where they meet New Zealand in a World Cup warm-up.

"But the fact that the cricket authorities have chosen to stage this game on the day of a televised England-Australia match probably says everything that needs to be said on that subject.

"At least it’s a nice day in the capital. And the Somerset fans will not have to leave early this time to catch their trains as they did when they were last here for the day/night YB40 final defeat to Warwickshire in 2011. And why would they want to after such an encouraging start?"

  7. Hants 32-2 (8 overs)published at 11:33 British Summer Time 25 May 2019

    Weatherley 4, Northeast 1

Sam Northeast is the new Hampshire batsman. There's a lot of responsibility on his shoulders today, both as captain and batsman after the loss of those two early wickets. He's under way with a single.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:29 British Summer Time 25 May 2019

    Alsop c Hildreth b Davey 16 (Hants 31-2, 7.3 overs)

Tom Alsop pushes forward to Josh Davey, the ball takes the edge and James Hildreth floors the catch moving to his left at slip.

Next ball, ditto, ditto, James Hildreth takes the catch - but this one is straight to him. No wonder he grins as he congratulates Davey - bet he's feeling mighty relieved.

  9. Hants 30-1 (7 overs)published at 11:26 British Summer Time 25 May 2019

    Alsop 16, Weatherley 3

Joe Weatherley is off the mark with a nudge down to third man which brings him two runs, but he has to hurry to make his ground as he pushes to mid-on for a single from the next delivery.

Another tidy over from Craig Overton. Somerset will be quite happy with how things are going so far.

"There's a contrast between the two bowlers. Josh Davey has caused all kinds of problems by pitching it up a yard further.

"Craig Overton has banged it into the pitch and gone for 18 from his three overs."

  11. Hants 27-1 (6 overs)published at 11:22 British Summer Time 25 May 2019

    Alsop 16, Weatherley 0

Whatever Josh Davey's problem was in his last over (see 11:15 entry), he's back out there again to continue his spell.

He's unlucky as he finds the edge of Tom Alsop's bat as he tries to drive and the ball runs away past slip for four.

Davey appeals confidently after the next one strikes Alsop on the pad, but it's missing leg stump.

Fantastic diving save on the boundary edge by Lewis Gregory denies Alsop a second boundary of the over.

  12. Hants 21-1 (5 overs)published at 11:19 British Summer Time 25 May 2019

    Alsop 10, Weatherley 0

Easy four for opener Tom Alsop, who glances Craig Overton away to fine leg. Alsop leans into an off-drive from the final ball of the over, but a god sprawling stop by Tom Abell keeps him to one.

  13. Hants 16-1 (4 overs)published at 11:15 British Summer Time 25 May 2019

    Alsop 5, Weatherley 0

Joe Weatherley hasn't played for Hampshire in this year's One-Day Cup and now he's out there in the final, with James Vine unavailable.

His first ball is almost his last as it just misses the edge on the way through to Tom Banton.

Bowler Josh Davey, though, looks to be struggling and he's off to the pavilion for some treatment. Dom Bess is on the field at 12th man.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:12 British Summer Time 25 May 2019

    Donald c van der Merwe b Davey 11 (Hants 16-1, 3.4 overs)

Josh Davey isn't the quickest bowler on the county circuit but he fizzes one past the outside edge of Tom Alsop's bat, before the left-hander takes a single.

Aneurin Donald is gone, though, as he drills a catch straight to Roelof van der Merwe at cover, who jubilantly hurls the ball into the sky.

"Aneurin Donald is a very talented player. He just needs to rein in his shot selection.

"He sometimes gets a little bit carried away."

  16. Hants 15-0 (3 overs)published at 11:09 British Summer Time 25 May 2019

    Alsop 4, Donald 11

Aneurin Donald, who left Glamorgan for Hampshire over the winter, strikes the first boundary of the day through the covers, and then swivels to flick the next delivery past short fine leg for another.

Former England players Martin Saggers and Rob Bailey are today's on-field umpires at Lord's.

Ex-Durham and Kent seamer Saggers took seven wickets in three Test appearances in 2003-04, while former Northants batsman Bailey played four Tests between 1988 and 1990.

  18. Hants 5-0 (2 overs)published at 11:06 British Summer Time 25 May 2019

    Alsop 3, Donald 2

No hint of swing for either bowler so far. It's a decent start by Josh Davey, though, with a single by Aneurin Donald the only addition.
