  1. 100 runs

for John Simpsonpublished at 11:29 British Summer Time 3 July 2019

    Derbyshire 557-6 dec v Middlesex 464-6

On a pitch the bowlers must loathe and detest, John Simpson pulls Ravi Rampaul away for four to become the fourth player in the game to score a century - and don't forget that three Derbyshire batsmen were dismissed in the 90s in their innings.

It came off 219 balls and Simpson's partnership with Dawid Malan, who is 192 not out, is worth 214.

  2. wicket

    WICKET Labuschagne c Barnard b D'Oliveira 100published at 11:27 British Summer Time 3 July 2019

    Glamorgan 449 & 157-2 v Worcestershire 370

Relief for Worcestershire as Marnus Labuschagne sweeps Brett D'Oliveira, bowling round the wicket, to backward square leg.

He put on 156 with opener Nick Selman, who is 45 not out as David Lloyd comes out to join him, and Glamorgan's lead is 236.

  3. Yorkshire pair frustrate Surreypublished at 11:26 British Summer Time 3 July 2019

    Yorkshire 327 & 337-9 v Surrey 362

These are absolutely crucial runs for Yorkshire from their last-wicket pair.

Duanne Olivier and Ben Coad each collect a boundary in the same Morne Morkel over and Coad then slashes another over the slips off Sam Curran.

They have put on 42 so far and the Yorkshire lead is 297.

  4. Lancs looking good at Sedberghpublished at 11:23 British Summer Time 3 July 2019

    Lancashire 337 & 223-7, Durham 281

It looks a lovely morning at Sedbergh, with a bit of distant cloud cover - and the Lancashire batsman appear to be making hay.

Skipper Dane Vilas is already onto 81, Saqib Mahmood is on 15 - and the Lancy lead is up to 279.

    Glamorgan 449 & 157-1 v Worcestsrshire 370

Marnus LabuschagneImage source, Huw Evans Picture Agency

He passed 1,000 Championship runs for the season yesterday, and now Marnus Labuschagne has his second hundred of the match after chopping a ball from Joe Leach away for a single.

He's first Glamorgan player to score a hundred in each innings of a game since 2005 and this one took him just 112 balls and included 14 fours.

How can Australia overlook him for the Ashes series now?

  6. wicket

    WICKET Abbott c Davies b J Overton 4published at 11:17 British Summer Time 3 July 2019

    Somerset 408 & 358-8 dec v Hampshire 349 & 18-3

Looks like Somerset are in a hurry.

Nightwatchman Kyle Abbott pushes forward defensively, but Jamie Overton finds just enough movement to take the edge and tat's easy pickings for keeper Steven Davies.

We may as well remind you now that Hampshire's target is 488 - but perhaps pointless to mention it again.

  7. Tidy start at Trent Bridgepublished at 11:15 British Summer Time 3 July 2019

    Notts 213 & 104-5, Essex 519-9 dec

Nottinghamshire look like they really are prepared to battle today.

No nonsense so far at Trent Bridge.

  8. wicket

    WICKET Rahane c J Overton b Gregory 8published at 11:11 British Summer Time 3 July 2019

    Somerset 408 & 358-8 dec v Hampshire 349 & 18-2

What a start for Somerset - but that's a poor shot by Ajinkya Rahane, who swishes at an away-swinger and edges to second slip, where Jamie Overton takes the catch in front of his face.

The India batsman fails to add to his overnight score and Sam Northeast comes out to join nightwatchman Kyle Abbott.

Remember, there are a couple of injured players in the Hampshire dressing room.

  9. Last-wicket pair resume for Yorkshirepublished at 11:07 British Summer Time 3 July 2019

    Yorkshire 327 & 309-9 v Surrey 362

Ben Foakes would have needed jet-heeled boots for that one.

Morne Morkel bangs in a bouncer in his opener at Scarborough and the ball clears batsman, keeper, everyone, as it heads to the rope for four byes.

Duanne Olivier - who was on strike - was no doubt very interested to see the lift obtained by his fellow South African. Yorkshire's lead is 274.

  10. Sibley off and runningpublished at 11:06 British Summer Time 3 July 2019

    Kent 585-7 dec, Warwickshire 402-3

First runs of the day to Dom Sibley, who else, at Canterbury.

He picks up two runs off the first over, from Harry Podmore. The Warwickshire opener moves on to 209.

Darren Stevens to bowl from the Nackington Road End. And he starts with a maiden.

While Sibley's already ticking over, none of the nation's automated scoreboards seem to be operating quite so smoothly. This could be fun!

Even more reason to tune in to one of the seven BBC county game commentaries.

  12. 'Victory comes first but Fidel owes me £20'published at 10:55 British Summer Time 3 July 2019

    Somerset 408 & 358-8 dec v Hampshire 349 & 12-1 - match resumes 11:00

    Tom BantonImage source, Rex Features

Somerset batsman Tom Banton is hoping the Division One leaders can cash in by clinching another win on the final day against Hampshire - and hopefully pick up a little bonus of his own.

They need nine wickets after setting a visitors a distant target of 488 at Taunton, with Banton adding 70 to his first-innings 79.

"We talked about getting a lead of 400 and then pulling out towards the end of the day. That's how it worked out and, if we bowl well, we now have a very good chance of winning," he said.

"It's been nice to get runs in this game. The other day Fidel Edwards came up to me and said he would give me £20 if I survived his spell. I'm still waiting for it!"

  13. How far can Dom Sibley go?published at 10:51 British Summer Time 3 July 2019

    Kent 585-7 dec, Warwickshire 400-3 - match resumes 11:00

Dom Sibley's score stands on 207 this morning as the Warwickshire opener returns to the featherbed that is this week's wicket at Canterbury.

He may have one or two small milestones in his sight - first and foremost the 36 runs that Warwickshire, on 400-3, need to ensure that they will not be asked to bat again by Kent, in reply to the hosts' 585-7 declared.

Then, as that would finally put this game out of its misery as a contest, there are the personal ones.

    Dom SibleyImage source, Rex Features

Another 23 runs would take Sibley past Billy Root's 229 for Glamorgan against Northants in June as the highest score made in the County Championship this season.

He needs just 36 more to beat his own career-best, 242 made against Yorkshire at the Oval in only his third first-class game with Surrey six summers ago.

And if he's feeling even more ambitious, then another 93 would make him only the fifth Bears batsman to make a triple century for the county, the last of which was Nick Knight against Middlesex at Lord's in 2004. And he would need only 109 more to top Mark Wagh's 315, also against Middlesex at Lord's in 2001, as the second highest ever made by a Bears batsman.

As for the biggest innings ever made by a Bear, that is also the whole of cricket's biggest innings too . . . Brian Lara's famous 501, from 25 years ago . And that's where the fantasizing stops, you'd think!

  15. Notts will keep fightingpublished at 10:44 British Summer Time 3 July 2019

    Notts 213 & 100-5, Essex 519-9 dec- match resumes 11:00

On the face of it, it looks as if Essex might just have to turn up the final day at Trent Bridge today to complete their expected victory over Nottinghamshire.

Division One's bottom club still need another 206 runs just to make Essex bat again - and their hopes realistically rest on Ben Duckett, 32 not out overnight and so far making a better fist of it, coming in number six, after opening in the first innings. But there is a bit of battling spirit in the home ranks.

"We're disappointed with where we are," said one of Notts' more experienced batsmen Chris Nash. "But there's an opportunity for someone to come out and go big.

"Essex are playing very good cricket and we're not playing the cricket we want to. It's a good pitch, so we're disappointed to be five down. But we'll keep fighting."

Ravi Bopara hit 11 fours in his five-and-a-half-hour innings of 135 on the third day

"I don't think it's going to be that easy," agrees former England all-rounder Ravi Bopara, fresh from his biggest Championship score in five years..

"When you start a new day there are usually early wickets but it will be tough and I know we'll have to battle hard. It could take two sessions or it could even go down to the last hour but we'll battle hard to try and get these five wickets. Everyone in the changing room accepts that."

  16. Maharaj may be 'key' for Yorkshirepublished at 10:41 British Summer Time 3 July 2019

    Yorkshire 327 & 303-9 v Surrey 362 - match resumes 11:00

A fascinating final day is in prospect at Scarborough with Yorkshire and Surrey both hopeful of victory on a pitch now presenting more challenges for batsmen.

The White Rose county lead by 268 with one wicket remaining and head coach Andrew Gale said: "It would have been nice for one bloke to go on and make a big score and for us to get a lead of over 300, but we're definitely in a good position.

"There's certainly some spin there, which will bring Kesh Maharaj into the game. Kesh could be key. They've got their lefties at the top, and there's rough outside their off stump."

    Andrew GaleImage source, Rex Features

But Surrey all-rounder Ryan Patel told BBC Radio London: "They're nine down, and it's game on. It offers a little bit of spin, but taking nine wickets in the day here is perfect for us. If we have a positive mindset, we can get a positive result."

No doubt he'll make it to the ground for the start of play one way or an-udder.
