To win a Test series in New Zealand is a massive ask. With their attack they very rarely lose at home. Winning this series would be huge for the future as we have a new head coach and a lot of young players. A series win would do them the world of good.

Joe Denly punches a drive through point that flirts with reaching the fence but Mitchell Santner does well to pull it back and keep it to three.
Neil Wagner goes back of a length to Rory Burns, who defends.

England are grinding it out, as they promised us they would.
Burns 35, Denly 4
Oooh that's a beauty. Tim Southee pushes it up, hint of movement away from the moustachioed Rory Burns and it beats the outside edge.
Burns leaves the last on length. A maiden from Southee.

Paul Stairmand: Listening to TMS from Ottawa, Canada. A very civilised 7pm here. After getting up at 4am to watch all England's rugby world cup matches, it's great to finally have time difference work in my favour!
New Zealand gather in a huddle.
Rory Burns and Joe Denly do some shadow batting.
Still with us in the UK? And hello to those of you in more favourable time zones.

Paul Stephenson: Nice to see international cricket where the crowd are pitching up with their own chairs and picnic rugs parked on grass banks. Bit of a throwback.
We're fairly certain that's a brewery behind one of the grassy banks.
This ground keeps getting better and better the more you hear about it.
So overall a morning session slightly in England's favour.
New Zealand have kept the run rate down and will look to strike quickly when the afternoon session gets under way.
Plenty more careful, patient batting required from new England.

Dom Sibley has quite an open stance, it's the first time I've seen him. I don't feel he gets across enough with his front foot. He gets closed off a little bit and that's the area to target.
This is the shot which brought the end of Dominic Sibley.
Now, the best Test batsman in the world has a technique that relies on working the ball through the leg side...but he's proven he can do it to pretty much any ball bowled at him.
Sibley might want to develop that off-side defence.
Dom Sibley made hay in county cricket working the ball through the leg side...but you can get found out in Test cricket.
And Colin de Grandhomme finally probed down the right line for a few balls in a row, got one to move away and take the outside edge through to Ross Taylor at slip.
Dom Sibley made a cracking start to his Test career - literally cracking a ball through mid-wicket for four to get off the mark.
And Rory Burns quickly settled back into the groove he found during the summer.
Let's have a quick recap of the morning session...
If you get a second wind and do head to the club Beth, just make sure it's got decent wifi or 4G coverage and keep reading this live text.

Beth Smith: When you are tired and your feet hurt and you can't be bothered to go to the club you sit down on a bench and put on TMS.
