  1. NZ 353-6published at 122.3 overs

Too straight from Sam Curran and BJ Watling just nurdles it fine for four. Ben Stokes at leg slip is furious, he thought he was in the game for a minute there.

    The scores are level.

Sam Curran is going to replace Ben Stokes as England hunt wickets.

We've been going for 50 minutes post-tea and we still haven't seen Jofra Archer.

    Trail by five

After initially looking very ropey, Mitchell Santner is starting to play a very handy knock here. He rocks back and cuts one through backward point for a couple before cutting to deep cover for a single. He's up to 20 off 49 balls.

New Zealand are starting to find runs slightly easier to come by as BJ Watling pushes to mid-off to move to 88.

  5. NZ 344-6published at 121 overs

Another up at them over from Ben Stokes but it's well dealt with by BJ Watling and Mitchell Santner.

There are 20 overs left in the day's play.

Strangest thing we ever used as a wicket was my friend's little brother, a toddler, who was sat down behind the batsman as we 10-year-olds happily played. Lasted about an over before his mum found out and, understandably, hit the roof....

    Shot!

Mitchell Santner takes one step down the track and hits Joe Root over long-on for six. That was a brilliant shot.

He picks up a single next ball to keep the strike. Clever cricket.

England's lead is down to nine.

Joe Root has had enough and brings himself on. Can he and his golden arm strike again?

One of the groundsman has just been come out and hammered the footholes with a huge mallet.

  10. NZ 337-6published at 119 overs

He abandons the plan half way through the over and goes back over the wicket, but it's still another bouncer that Watling easily ducks under.

A poor delivery from Stokes is cut through gully and it goes for four despite a good attempt by substitute fielder Zac Crawley.

    Watling moves onto 86.

Ben Stokes is going to continue with the round the wicket, leg slip and short leg ploy to BJ Watling.

  12. NZ 333-6published at 118 overs

    Watling 82, Santner 10

Mitchell Santner uses his feet well to get down the track and flick down to mid-on for a single.

BJ Watling continues to quietly accumulate as he flicks to square leg.

That's a rank delivery from Jack Leach. It's too short and Santner just rocks back and carves through the covers for four more. England's lead is down to 20.

    Another misfield from Jofra Archer.

He gets the long barrier out, but the ball goes through his hands and Mitchell Santner picks up two.

The new plan is easily dealt with by BJ Watling as he pats down anything on his stumps and ducks and weaves anything above his head.

New Zealand trail by 28 now.

  16. NZ 325-6published at 116.1 overs

Ben Stokes and England have gone to one of their 'Steve Smith plans' for BJ Watling.

Stokes has gone around the wicket with a leg slip in. This must be about plan J in the manual.

I know this pitch is, let's face it, poor for Test cricket and doing nothing but when Leach is bowling, why not surround the batsmen? Get into their eyeline/head and take a chance. Just a thought!

A maiden from Jack Leach. He's tying up an end nicely for England at the moment while causing some problems for the left-handed Mitchell Santner.

Santner is having a horrible time here. He looks like a standing target.

Santner looks like someone who has been sat watching two men bat all day. The mental side of staying switched on when you have waited so long can be tricky.
