I think that is missing leg and I think I heard a hard sound too.

I think that is missing leg and I think I heard a hard sound too.
A freebie from Joe Root. It's too short and Mitchell Santner rocks back and carves through backward point for four more.
Oh, an appeal! Root gets one to scurry through and it hits Santner on the back pad but that was going down leg. Root was basically begging Bruce Oxenford to give that out.
Going to be honest, I don't remember that game. I'd have been four at the time.
But New Zealand scored 236 in 102 overs. Slow going.

These two are grinding England into the dust.
Superb shot!
Mitchell Santner takes a step down the track and drives sweetly through the covers for his fourth boundary.

That is now two century stands in a row for New Zealand. This is the first century partnership between Watling and Santner.
BJ Watling knocks a full toss to Sam Curran at mid-off to bring up the century stand.
It's been very frustrating for England but hugely important for New Zealand.

That was a very strange one. Was that a drop? If it was, it was a very tough chance.
Is that a drop? Joe Root fires one in and it looks set to bowl Mitchell Santner but it spins just past off stump. Jos Buttler fumbles it and it dribbles to Ben Stokes at slip.
Oh. Now Mitchell Santner edges one into his pads.
Joe Root causes problems again.
Joe Root is coming on too.
He was probably England's most threatening bowler yesterday which tells you a lot.

New Zealand are trying to bat England out of the game so that they are the only side who can win the Test.
They could have a bit more intent though. It's been very sedate this morning.

The longer this situation continues, with New Zealand not getting away, the more likely the draw becomes..
Just a couple of singles come from Leach's first over of the day.
The third new ball is five overs away. If England will take it, after going wicketless for a whole session with the second one yesterday, is debatable.
Oh, no he's not. Jack Leach is going to have a twirl.
Sam Curran will continue after drinks.
A slow going first hour then.
England have failed to find the breakthrough but they have bowled much better to be fair to them. They've consistently challenged the stumps and just outside off stump.
New Zealand have only scored 19 runs in 16 overs so England are at least restricting the scoring, making the draw more and more likely.

Ben Stokes has decided to go round the wicket to Mitchell Santner and is really cramping him for room outside off stump.
That's a good bouncer from Stokes but Santner does well to weave out the way. He's faced 151 deliveries for his 39 now. Slow going but it's a crucial knock for NZ.
Another maiden. That's drinks.

New Zealand have scored 19 runs off 15 overs today.
